Council Report <br />June 20, 1995 <br />Fire Station <br />I would like to get the Fire Fighters into the new building <br />before we have an open house. While construction is <br />proceeding well we may not be able to hit the expected <br />August 1st date for the open house. We are now looking at <br />something around Homecoming. <br />I have heard some talk about the size of this new building. <br />While the Taj Mahal comments don't bother me after 20+ <br />years of government service since that is what some people <br />say about all government building, the idea that people <br />believe it is to large does bother me. I would like you to note <br />that this structure is 18,536 sq. ft. And is a Headquarters <br />station. The only other Headquarters station built in this area <br />is in Lakewood and it is 22,000 sq. ft. Our satellite station is <br />3,800 sq. ft. compared to Westlake at 7,000 and Strongsville <br />at between 5,000 and 7,600. <br />Olmsted Township <br />Tonight ! am introducing legislation to take the annexation <br />proposal off the November ballot. Mayor Trupo and 1 have <br />spoken extensively to many residents of Olmsted Tov+mship <br />over the past few months and believe this is the correct thing <br />to do. We have learned that our partnership proposal has <br />caused a great deal of intelligent thought and people now <br />realize why we made the offer.
