Council Minutes of 12/17/96
Mr. O'Grady, Chairperson of the Intra-Governmental Relations and Legislation; Long-
Range Planning Committee: 1) The committee met on December 10 to interview the
Mayor's nominees to the Fair Housing Review Board. Present at the meeting were
Council Members O'Grady, Musial, Limpert and Nashar. The committee was very
impressed with the qualifications of the nominees and with their dedication to assist their
city and community. Mr. O'Grady moved to make the following appointments to the Fair
Housing Review Board: Anthony Warmuth, to serve cone-year term; Michael Gareau Jr.,
to serve atwo-year term; Carol Vance, to serve athree-year term. The motion was
seconded by Mr. Musial and unanimously passed. Once each of these terms expire, the
succeeding term will be a three-year term; thus, essentially staggering the terms.
Regarding the Fair Housing Review Board, Mayor Boyle reminded Council that the board
will also include himself or his designee and a Council Member. Mr. O'Grady volunteered
to serve as Council's representative. Mr. McKay moved to appoint Mr. O'Grady as
Council's representative to the Fair Housing Board, and the motion was seconded by Mr.
Nashar. Ro11 call: McKay, yes; Nashar, yes; Saringer, yes; Musial, yes; Lind, yes;
Limpert, yes; O'Grady, abstain. The motion passed with six affirmative votes and one
abstention. The Mayor's designee will be Marlene Telegedy.
Mr. Nashar asked the members of Boy Scout Troop 53 and their leaders to come forward
and introduce themselves. Boy Scout Troop 53: Dale Willis, Dan Garrick, Taylor
Goode, Chris DuBois, Jacob Barry, Alec Zak, Cliff Thompson, Nick Baine, Tom Barry,
Chris Shultz, Seth Blyborg, Steven Merrick, Nick Riola; Scout Master Barry Gummel;
Assistant Scout Masters Bill Barry, Stan Ball, Craig Garrick and Cliff Thompson.
AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION
Joyce Weber, 5737 Allendale Drive, inquired whether the city had received Issue 2 funds
for the Carey Lane/Allendale Drive project. Mayor Boyle said that we had not received
funds for this project. The city was asked to make presentations on two of the four
projects that had been submitted, but Carey Lane/Allendale Drive was not one of the two
that made the Issue 2 list. Service Director Bohlmann said that, of our four projects
submitted, the Brookpark Road renovation was number 20 and the Mastick Road sewer
project was number 40. The other two projects did not make the list of 59 projects to be
funded by Issue 2. Mayor Boyle told Mrs. Weber not to give up hope because it is
possible that other projects will be funded if some of the projects on the list are not
completed. The administration and Council are still looking at ways of funding this
project internally, and it is a high ranking project for next year's appropriations.
5
