The
,,t~,, new equipment will allow the five loops to work together for better traffic control. The
Ohio Department of Transportation will not pay for the equipment upgrade, and the cost
to the city will be approximately $45,000. The committee recommend approval.
b. Ordinance 96-62, which was removed from the agenda and is being held in committee
for further evacuation and funding.
c. Ordinance 96-64, which will be held in committee for further review.
Mrs. Saringer, Chairperson of the Recreation, Public Parks and Buildings Committee: 1)
Mrs. Saringer attended the monthly Recreation Commission meeting on May 8.
Recreation Commissioner Dolansky gave a report noting that the department has 17
full-time employees and 175 part-time and seasonal employees. Although the budgets of
the Recreation Department and Springvale will be kept separate, the combining of
purchasing and sharing of employees will be more cost efficient. Springvale has $250,000
in reserve for improvements to the parking lot and facility upgrades to aid the
handicapped. It is hoped that the kitchen can be renovated as Mr. Dolansky plans to
promote the club for weddings and special events.
2) The president of the North Olmsted Hockey Association attended the meeting to
present the concerns of the organization. There are currently 450 children active in
hockey, 50% of those are North Olmsted residents. Problems the association would like
to see addressed are: repair of the roof over the ice rink; the addition of player benches
and drains in this area; the addition of glass surrounding the studio rink so that it can be
utilized for hockey; the removal of hooks in the locker room which are a safety hazard.
3) The commission had previously discussed the possibility of the schools contributing
funds to the Recreation Center. However, it was reported that this was not possible as the
school permanent improvement plan fiends are committed for the next five years.
4) Mrs. Saringer presented a letter to the commission from a resident who requested the
installation of additional basketball courts.
Mr. Nashar, Chairperson of the Public Safety, Health and Welfare Committee: 1) The
committee met on Tuesday, May 21. In attendance were committee members Limpert,
O'Grady and Nashar. The committee met to discuss a liquor permit transfer at the former
Darby O'Tooles establishment at 24280 Lorain Road. The new business will be called
Doc and Louies Too, Inc. The business will be an upscale-type tavern, and lunch and
dinners will be served. There will be entertainment on Friday and Saturday evenings;
however, this will not begin for about two months. The parking lot must be striped before
opening, and the owners plan to open for business on May 28. Mr. Nashar moved to
approve the liquor permit transfer from Tri Color, Inc. DBA Darby O'Tooles to Doc and
Louies Too, Inc., 24280 Lorain Road. The motion was seconded by Mr. Limpert and
unanimously passed.

4
.. _ .....~, ~.,~,~:nM„~,~,~,..._. _
