Council Minutes of 3/18/97
complete, and we do have cost estimates. However, the Mayor cannot at this time
promise that the funding will be available this year. The appropriations will be finalized at
a special Council meeting on March 27; and, if we can find the funds within that budget,
we will begin the project. If we can't, we will look elsewhere. At present, the city is
using pumps in this area as a temporary measure. Mr. O'Grady said Mrs. Weber's
question about how Council and the administration would feel if their homes were
flooding was a good question. The answer is they would feel terrible. And the fact that it
is her home does not make him feel any better. He assured Mrs. Weber that Council is
very interested in finding a solution to this problem.
Art Hewett, Cambridge Crossings, said he was grateful that Dorchester Road, the only
entrance into his neighborhood, was repaired. However, he wanted to bring to Council's
attention the portion of Stearns Road south of I-480 which is in very poor condition. Mr.
Hewett feels the road is dangerous and potentially life-threatening because vehicles going
in both directions must swerve to the center of the road to avoid the large potholes. Mr.
O'Grady commented that he had spoken to the Service Director about this area, and he
believed it would be repaired as soon as the weather improved. Service Director
Bohlmann answered that the city has an agreement with the county engineer's office for an
SO-20 project for that road from the Limited-access line south to the Olmsted Township
border. The concrete pavement on the approaches to the bridge, the islands and the road
and berms are going to be repaired and resurfaced this summer. Mr. Nashar commented
that slab repair would begin this spring in the south end of Bretton Ridge.
LEGISLATION
Ordinance No. 97-14 introduced by Mr. Limpert was given its third reading. An
ordinance accepting a traffic control equipment easement located on property owned by
Service Station Holdings, Inc. and designated as Permanent Parcel No. 234-20-07 by
Cuyahoga County Maps and Records, said easement shown on Exhibit "A" and as
described on Exhibit "B" and declaring an emergency. Mr. Limpert moved for adoption;
second by Mrs. Saringer; motion passed unanimously. Ordinance No. 97-14 adopted.
Ordinance No. 97-15 introduced by Mayor Boyle was given its third reading. An
ordinance authorizing and directing the Mayor of the City of North Olmsted to enter into
an agreement with Polytech Inc., to provide engineering services for two structural steel
platforms at the North Olmsted Wastewater Treatment Plant, and declaring an emergency.
Mr. Lind moved for adoption; second by Mrs. Saringer; motion passed unanimously.
Ordinance No. 97-15 adopted.
Ordinance No. 97-21 introduced by Mr. McKay was given its second reading.
