Council Minutes of 8/4/98
proposal. The committee invited comments or participation--no comments were made.
:~,~. The committee unanimously recommended approval. A public hearing on this legislation
was held earlier this evening. Mr. Gareau noted that this legislation has been removed
from this evening's Council agenda and referred back to committee for further review and
possibly Planning Commission review as well.
Mrs. Kasler, Chairperson of the Recreation, Public Parks and Buildings Committee:
1) The committee met on Wednesday, July 29, to obtain a status report on the Rec Center
ice rink roof project. In attendance were Council members Kasler, Gareau, Miller,
Limpert, McKay and O'Grady; Mayor Musial; directors of Safety and Service; Todd
Morgan from the Recreation Center; guests from various skating organizations. The
project is well underway and on schedule with approximately 2,000 square feet of roofing
placed each day. The city absorbed the cost of a change in insulation which provided for
more efficient installation and more significant insulation. The contractor is paying the
cost of all overtime incurred by 12 hour workdays. The HVAC system is yet to be bid.
However, should the opportunity exist without adversely affecting rink usage, that project
will move forward as well. Should it not be possible to perform this entire project, early
this fall a portion of the project will begin to include replacement of two HVAC units with
the remainder of the project being completed at the earliest convenient time. It is
anticipated that some funds will remain at the completion of these projects and may be
used for the replacement of ice rink lighting. This will come before Council at some future
date.
Council President Saringer noted that the Ohio Department of Commerce has sent its
annual notification that all liquor permit holders in the city must renew their permits by
October 1, 1998.
AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION
Sandi Prioletti, 6115 Christman Drive, thanked Councilman Nashar, Councilman O'Grady
and the Mayor for attending a Bretton Ridge Homeowners Association carnival held on
July 18. They were very receptive to the people in the development that showed up for
the meeting, and their concern was appreciated. She will keep in touch regarding the
flooding problem.
LEGISLATION
Resolution No. 98-72 was introduced and placed on first reading by Mr. Limpert on behalf
of Mayor Musial. A resolution authorizing the Director of Public Service to advertise for
bids for the enclosure of the wet well at the Dover Lift Station in the City of North
Olmsted as detailed in the specifications on file and authorizing the Mayor to contract for
the same, and declaring an emergency.
7
,~ ,~:.
