Council Minutes of 5/6/98 <br />,,~ 3) In June, the city will begin receiving wire transfer remittances from the Cleveland <br />Division of Water instead of a check. This will provide the funds seven to ten days <br />sooner. <br />Mr. Nashar, Chairperson of the Public Safety, Health and Welfare Committee: 1) The <br />Safety Committee met this evening and in attendance were committee members Miller, <br />Gareau, Nashar; Council members Kasler, O'Grady, Limpert. The committee had no <br />objection and recommended approval of the liquor transfer from Success Management <br />Inc., 25973 Great Northern Boulevard to 4967 Dover Center Road, DBA Geppetto's. <br />Mr. Nashar made a motion that Council have no objection to the liquor transfer. The <br />motion was seconded by Mr. Gareau and unanimously approved. <br />2) He has been disturbed about recent news reports of kids and guns and has proposed a <br />gun turn-in program for North Olmsted. With the cooperation of Safety Director Jenkins <br />and Police Chief Ruple, residents may turn in guns to the Police Department from 10 a.m. <br />until 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, and Saturday, May 23--no questions asked. Residents <br />turning in guns will receive a $10 food coupon from Rini-Rego Stop & Shop donated by <br />Joe Castillo, store manger at the Great Northern Boulevard store. Also, residents will <br />receive a $29.95 coupon for an oil change donated by Pat Graham, general manager of <br />Great Northern Dodge. The coupons will be issued one per household. All guns should <br />be placed in a bag or wrapped in newspaper. The guns turned in will be scrapped and <br />melted down. <br />Mr. Limpert, Chairperson of the Intra-Governmental Relations and Legislation; Long- <br />Range Planning Committee: 1) The committee met on May 4 to interview Walt Spalding <br />for a position on the Planning Commission replacing Tony Manning who recently <br />resigned. Mr. Spalding is a former member of the Planning Commission and has also <br />served on the Civil Service Commission and as a member of other community <br />organizations. Mr. Limpert moved that Council appoint Walt Spalding to the Planning <br />Commission. The motion was seconded by Mr. Gareau and unanimously passed. <br />2) The committee met to discuss Ordinance 98-39. Present were committee members <br />Nashar, Gareau, Limpert; Council members Kasler, O'Grady, McKay. This ordinance <br />addressed the issue of non-bargaining employees being residents of North Olmsted. The <br />committee recommended the legislation be tabled. <br />Mr. O'Grady, Chairperson of the Finance Committee: 1) The committee met on April 28 <br />and in attendance were committee members O'Grady, Kasler, Limpert; Councilman <br />Nashar; Mayor Musial; directors of Finance, Safety, Law and Service. The following <br />items were on the agenda: <br />a. A discussion which dealt with the Finance Director's suggestion of canceling a note in <br />the amount of $41,000 for the replacement of Fire Station No. 2's roof and instead paying <br />this expense from the HoteVMotel revenue. The committee unanimously approved, and <br />the legislation will be tabled this evening. <br />b. Ordinance 98-35 sets a mechanism in place to charge an owner for costs incurred by the <br />city for impounded animals. Some confusion existed as to whether Codified Ordinance <br />2 <br /> <br />
