Council Minutes of 9/21/99
Mr. Limpert asked Mrs. Kasler if the Recreation Commission's agenda would include
' discussion of their long-range planning priorities so as to give the Long-Range Planning
Committee of Council some direction. Mrs. Kasler said she had information to share
with Mr. Limpert on that subject. She anticipated this question and submitted to the
Recreation Commission a list of issues and projects that have been discussed in the past.
The list is now being reviewed by Safety Director Jenkins and will be prioritized. The
commission would like to extend an invitation to all members of the Long-Range
Planning Committee to attend their next meeting on October 11.
Mr. O'Grady, chairperson of the Finance Committee: 1) The committee met on
September 8. Present were committee members O'Grady, Kasler and Limpert; Council
members Miller and Gareau; the directors of Service and Finance. Agenda items were:
• Resolution 99-114, a resolution authorizing the Director of Public Service to advertise
for bids for a maximum of 35,000 gallons of sodium aluminate, for each 12 month
period, for use by the Wastewater Treatment Plant. The committee in review of this
ordinance which comes up each year, unanimously recommended approval.
• Resolution 99-115, which authorizes the Director of Public Service to advertise for
bids for 5,000 tons of asphalt and tack coating for city streets. Again, this resolution
comes up each year and was unanimously recommended for approval.
• Ordinance 99-116, a resolution authorizing the Director of Public Service to advertise
for bids for 2,000 tons of stone for various Service Department projects. After
discussion, the committee determined that 5,000 tons would be more appropriate, and
the committee unanimously recommended approval of the legislation as amended to
5,000 tons.
• Resolution 99-117, which authorizes the Director of Public Service to advertise for
bids for pulva mixing on various city streets. Again, this is a resolution that comes up
each year and the committee unanimously recommended approval.
• Resolution 99-118, which authorizes the Director of Public Service to advertise for
bids for cracksealing on various city streets. This is a resolution that comes up each
year, and again the committee unanimously recommended approval.
• Resolution 99-119, which authorizes the Director of Public Service to advertise for
bids for partial depth concrete joint repair on various city streets. This is a resolution
that comes up each year, and again the committee unanimously recommended
approval.
• Resolution 99-120, which is a resolution authorizing the Director of Public Service to
advertise for bids for diesel fuel and gasoline products. This is a new contract. The
former contract was with BP America, but the city will go out to bid again this year to
attract other bidders as well. After discussion, the committee unanimously
recommended approval of Resolution 99-120.
• Resolution 99-121, which authorizes the Director of Public Service to advertise for
bids for the collection of ali city refuse in the city.. This was a three year contract
with BFI which was extended for two years. The city intends to again go out for bid
with regard to refuse pick-up.
