Council Minutes of 7/18/2000
Cocco of Clark and Post Architects indicated that the mounding is all flat land,
"'" nothing in this particular area will be removed. There will be a few trees removed,
and the committee asked that landscaping on the east side of the parking lot e
included to include a six foot mounding around this perimeter and that trees be
planted on the west side of this mounding also for the aesthetics of the residents that
live in the Butternut Ridge apartments. The mounding materials are to be approved
by the City Forester. The proposal was approved by the committee. Mr. Nashar
moved that Council approve the Moen Corporation proposal subject to all
recommendations of the boards and commissions. The motion was seconded by Mr.
Gareau and unanimously approved.
AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION
Dennis Lambert, 25057 Carey Lane
• Spoke about the odors coming from the Wastewater Treatment Plant. He knows that
the EPA is currently monitoring the water quality, and they could decide to monitor
air quality. He has brought to Council's attention in the past the large projects that
Regional Sewer has done--large interceptors on the east side; coupling of the extreme
southern communities. Much of the funding came from the federal government and
other sources besides the local governments. He would like North Olmsted to begin
to look into the process of integrating our program with a regional program. He feels
this would be a more effective system since other plants, such as the one in Rocky
River, are located on a much larger body of water than our plant. This would be a
major project and might attract funds from outside this area considering it may be a
cooperative effort of local and regional sewer authorities. He believes a study should
be conducted.
Edward Koryta, 5498 Whitehaven
• He is upset because city and library officials think our library has outlived its
usefulness and should be replaced. He said the current library was completely
remodeled this May, and we do not need a new library. Mr. Koryta does not like the
idea of putting the city in debt and raising property taxes for a new library.
Linda Wiersma, 27926 Blossom Blvd.
• It has been brought to the attention of neighbors in Forest Woods and Lauren Woods
that Nextel is surveying the green space there for a cell phone tower. She wants it to
be noted that the residents don't want it there, and they will follow up with a written
letter.
Ralph Mackey, 26701 Sweetbrier Drive
• In August of 1997, a letter was sent from the Service Director promising the residents
improvements to the swale at the rear of their properties. Based on information
recently received from Mr. Limpert, it seems that the issue is again being considered.
He asked that Council address this issue as he has spoken to other residents and they
all want it done. This could be a public safety issue as there is a heavy infestation of
mosquitoes. He has called the Board of Health, and they did spray his property.
~.~,.
10
,~ a...., ~. _. . -.
