Council Minutes of 3/21/2000 <br />• Resolution 2000-20, which is necessary because the present contract to remove the <br />sludge from the WWTP expires on June 30, 2000. The cost is expected to be between <br />$80,000 to $120,000. The committee recommended approval. <br />• Review of the appropriations, Ordinance 2000-27. Discussion of the following <br />departments: Council, no adjustments; Mayor's office, one adjustment; Data <br />Processing, not complete due to lack of information; Finance Department, no <br />adjustments, Law Department, no adjustments; Department of Personnel, adjustments <br />made to the director's salary from a 5% increase to a 4% increase by a vote of Council <br />members 4 yeas and 2 nays; Department of Public Safety, director's salary was <br />reduced from a 5% increase to a 3% increase. The Safety Director's increase is <br />controlled by ordinance. <br />3) The Finance Committee met again on Thursday, March 16. Present were Council <br />members Limpert, O'Grady, McKay, Nashar, Gareau, Kasler; Mayor Musial; Human <br />Resources Director Don Copeland; Finance Director Carrie Copfer; Clerk of <br />Commissions Donna Rote and Landmarks Commission member Paul Barker. Items <br />reviewed were: <br />• The Human Resources Department and the Division of Aging. Corrections were <br />made to the Community Diversion Fund, page 19, line 951. Their organizational line <br />item was increased from $1,000 to $1,500. The previous appropriations and the <br />Division of Aging were approved. <br />• The general administration and boards and commissions. Landmarks member Paul <br />Barker presented the projected activities of the Landmarks Commission for the year <br />2000, requested increase of line item 370 on page 9 from $1,600 to $3,600. The <br />request was approved by Council. On page 10, line 405, shared income tax with the <br />schools was increased from $110,000 to $117,000 due to the school's share of the tax <br />abatement. The general administration and boards and commission was then <br />approved. <br />4) The Finance Committee met on Saturday, March 18. In attendance were all <br />Councilmen-at-Large and all Ward Councilmen; Service Director Bohlmann; Finance <br />Director Copfer; WWTP superintendent Robert Nichols, WWTP assistant superintendent <br />Barry Boehnlein and Environmental Engineer Dennis Long; North Olmsted Municipal <br />Bus Line General Manager Tom Terbrack. Items discussed were: <br />• The Department of Public Service was approved. <br />• The Division of Engineering was held in committee for their explanation of the page <br />81ine item 294 equipment purchase. <br />• The Division of General Service page 9 line item 356, service garage operation was <br />held for additional information. <br />• Public Works was approved. <br />• Fleet Management was approved. <br />• Division of WWTP was approved. <br />,,~. • NOMBL was approved. <br />'- <br />7 <br />
