Mrs. Kasler moved that <br />George Corell be appointed to the Landmarks Commission. The motion was <br />seconded by Mr. Miller and unanimously approved. (Mr. Corell was not in <br />attendance.) <br />Mr. Limpert, chairperson of the Recreation, Public Parks and Buildings Committee: 1) <br />The committee met on February 24 to discuss Resolution 2000-10. Present were <br />committee members Limpert, Miller, O'Grady; Council members Gareau, McKay and <br />Nashar; Service Director Bohlmann and Safety Director Jenkins. Resolution 2000-10 <br />authorizes the Safety Director to advertise for bids for the printing of the Spring/Summer, <br />Autumn/Winter North Olmsted Parks and Recreation Department brochure. The <br />resolution was approved unanimously by all members. <br />Mr. McKay, chairperson of the Finance Committee: 1) The Finance Committee met in <br />joint sessions with Recreation and Transportation Committee on Thursday, February 24. <br />Present were committee members Limpert, O'Grady, Miller, Gareau and McKay; Service <br />Director Bohlmann; Safety Director Jenkins. Agenda items were as follows: <br />• Ordinance No. 2000-16 authorizing the Mayor to extend the lease for eight months <br />with Northern Ohio Interconnect Inc. (Cablevision), which is located at the <br />Recreation Center. The lease will begin on May 1, 2000 and will expire on <br />December 31, 2000. The rent shall be $4,205 per month, or $50,460 a year. After <br />thorough discussion of a number of issues, the committee recommended approval. <br />• Ordinance 2000-14 which established the compensation and benefits to be paid to the <br />part-time employees of the North Olmsted Bus Line. The rates are similar to those <br />for the employees of the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority and the <br />committee recommended approval. <br />LETTERS/COMMUNICATIONS <br />Mayor Musial took his seat at this point and read a letter which he received from a <br />resident who resides on Chapel Hill Drive: "If necessary, raise our taxes but fix our <br />bloody street. I live on Chapel Hill and the streets in our development are a wreck. <br />Visitors are calling our street little West Virginia. I have more concrete on my tree lawn <br />than there is in the street. I hate to admit it, but tick tacky North Olmsted is becoming a <br />reality. Signed John O'Connor." Mayor Musial said he drove on Chapel Hill, and Mr. <br />O'Connor is right. That street is almost as bad as Sanders Lane where he lives, and it is <br />almost as bad as Woodpark. All we need is money to fix it. Mr. McKay commented <br />that, when Council decided to repair the streets of North Olmsted and go out and borrow <br />the money to do it, it was originally a 15-year program. The Mayor and Council at that <br />time got a little over ambitious, moved ahead of the 15 year period and repaired a great <br />number of streets. It is impossible to do everybody's street all in a matter of two or three <br />years. We are still repairing streets. Unfortunately, somebody has to be last. Mayor <br />Musial said this is just one of the situations that comes into play here. As he understands <br />.~ it, Chapel Hill is on the schedule for 2001.
