Council Minutes 1/18/2000
2) Mr. John Thomas, a North Olmsted resident, addressed the committee in regard to the
;,~ wireless telecommunication legislation. He made some suggestions and presented a
change as to where the overlay district should be. He was advised to bring that
information to the public hearings on January 19.
As a follow up to Mr. McKay's comments, Mr. Gareau said that he had forwarded Mr.
Thomas' suggestions to the city's expert consultant, Mr. Todd Hunt, who was involved in
the drafting of the legislation. Mr. Hunt will attend the public hearings to address
resident concerns.
President Saringer formally announced that two public hearings would be held on
Wednesday, January 19:
• 7 p.m., Ordinance No. 98-130 which adds a new district to the Zoning Code
regulating wireless telecommunication facilities.
• 7:30 p.m., Ordinance No. 98-131 which supplementally zones certain parcels into the
new zoning district.
LETTERS COMMUNICATIONS
The Clerk read a letter dated January 18, 2000 which was received from Administrative
Assistant Mary Creadon: "Dear Mrs. Seman, Councilman Miller and Council: The
comments of Councilman Miller as reported in the December 7, 1999 Council minutes
require some clarification. Councilman Miller indicates that his recollection regarding
some comments I made at the Recreation Committee meeting on December 7, 1999 prior
to the Council meeting refer to the aspect that negotiations regarding the Coke contract
may have occurred between myself and Coke officials at the July 4, 1999 bike parade and
picnic. (Note -held on July 5, 1999) In my opinion, Councilman Miller used poor
judgment to have made such statements at the Council meeting. If he needed the slightest
clarification, he should have immediately secured such clarification at the Recreation
Committee meeting. Additionally, not only did his statement stretch the boundaries of
logic-Coke officials actually being at the July 4, 1999 bike parade and picnic, myself
having negotiations, formal or informal with Coke officials on this date even if they were
there-but he would also have been informed that due to other plans, I was not even
present at the July 4, 1999 bike parade and picnic. Sometimes people hear what they
want to hear, selective hearing, and come to wrong conclusions."
Mrs. Saringer noted that she did believe Mr. Miller had apologized.
AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION
Ed Colwell, 3333 W. 231 Street, referred back to Mr. O'Grady's report on street lighting
and asked him to list the streets that would receive streets lights. Mr. O'Grady noted that
engineering has been completed by CEI on the following streets:

~, i
