The
motion was seconded by Councilman Limpert and passed unanimously. Councilman
McKay moved for adoption; second by Councilman Limpert. Roll call: McKay, yes;
Limpert, yes; Dailey, yes; Kasler, yes, with the comment that she is voting yes with some
hesitation based on the belief that Ordinance 2001-55, the original ordinance, addressed
the safety issues of Sweetbriaz with a more expedient and appropriate response during the
time of day when safety issues existed on that street. However, she will support these
ordinances as a matter of finally addressing the safety concerns there. Roll call
continued: Miller, no, with comment that he thinks Ordinances 2001-86 and 2001-87, by
creating a zone within zone, will cause confusion and will not lend to any safer condition
than that which existed in Ordinance 2001-55. It's not in the best interest of the city for
the Mayor to attend committee meetings, see the work that's being done to address an
issue, say absolutely nothing, comribute nothing to resolve it and then use his veto power
to shoot down an ordinance and then come forwazd with two new ordinances. Roll call
continued: Nashaz, yes; O'Grady, yes, with comment that we've got to find a better way
of doing business on Council. He is glad this thing is done. The motion passed with six
yeas and one nay. Ordinance No. 2001-87 adopted.
Il
