Due to concerns that were expressed by the senior citizen community, many
hours of discussion and research considering and concerning the senior lunch program
have taken place over the last several months. The Inn at Olmsted Manor has a chef and
staff on site. They have made a proposal to come into our Senior Center's kitchen and
prepare a home cooked meal one day each week. With the assistance of our volunteers,
the food will be set up in a buffet style in the Senior Center lunch activities room to be
plated up and served to the seniors in attendance. A maximum of about 90 people can be
handled. These home cooked meals will be nutritious, hot and in the atmosphere that the
seniors desire in their own Senior Center. The Inn at Olmsted Manor is offering our
North Olmsted Senior Center a complimentary lunch which will be served at noon on
August 3. Any senior who wants to participate in the complimentary lunch should call
Marlene Telegdy to make a reservation. Reservations will be cut off at approximately 90
individuals. If the Senior Center Advisory Council receives good feedback and agrees,
the special senior lunch program would be continued at a cost of $3.75 per person. This
cost is all-inclusive and includes Solo plates, eating utensils, napkins and condiments.
This special senior lunch program is in addition to the weekly Thursday lunch program,
and it is not intended to be a replacement. As everyone is aware, the Thursday lunch
program has an extended time period for entertainment and other activities.
Law Director Gareau: 1) Regarding the library property acquisition, the Law Department
has received an answer from C & C Realty which is just a general denial. We have yet to
receive an answer from either James Lumber or Z Properties. One attorney called today
and asked for an extension of time within which to file their answer. He refused to grant
an extension of time because time is of the essence. They have had plenty of time to file
their answer. We have been negotiating this contract for months.
2) A tentative agreement was reached with A.F.S.C.M.E. Service. The terms and
conditions of that are now being put in contract language and will be presented to both
the union and management and will eventually be put in ordinance form for passage by
City Council.
3) The Law Department is currently trying to acquire five parcels of land that abut
Clague Road for the purpose of widening the intersection at Clague and Lorain.
Appraisals were received last week, and f ve proposals were sent out last Friday. To
date, feedback has been received from two of the property owners.
4) Negotiations are continuing with the A.F.S.C.M.E.
