Council Minutes of 5/15/2001
• Sprintcom, Inc., at McCormick Place, a proposal to build a tower located at Lorain
Road and West 231. This proposal had previously been turned down by the Planning
Commission and the Board of Zoning Appeals. After reviewing the proposal, the
BZD Committee did not recommend approval, Mr. Nashar moved that Council deny
the proposal for a tower at McCormick Place. The motion was seconded by
Councilman McKay and unanimously approved. The application is denied.
• Lighthouse Pools, 25601 Lorain Road, a proposal to demolish a building on the west
end of the property at Bailey Road and build an addition to Lighthouse Pools which
would extend to Bailey. Representing Lighthouse Pools was Mr. Steve Schill. The
new building will be two stories and, because of the drop off in the back of the
building, there will be a basement which will be used for storage purposes only. The
design and the colors of the buildmg will match the existing buildmg. The committee
reviewed the delivery system. During the week, two or possibly three semi-tractor
trailer trucks will backing down Bailey and into the driveway off of Bailey. This
traffic pattern will be studied and, if this method causes traffic problems, they will
have to make a curb cut on Fleharty so the trucks can pull in on Fleharty to make
deliveries and pull out onto Bailey. The BZD Committee recommended approval,
subject to all the recommendations of the boards and commissions of the city. Mr.
Nashar moved that Council recommend approval of the Lighthouse Pools proposal
subject to all recommendations and requirements. The motion was seconded by Mr.
O'Grady. Mr. Miller added to the report that the peak on the new section is not to
exceed the existing peak. He believes it was approximately five feet lower than the
existing high point on that building. Mr. Nashar agreed. The motion was
unanimously passed.
Councilman McKay, chairperson of the Finance Committee: 1) The Finance, Recreation,
Streets & Drainage and Environmental Committees met jointly on Monday, May 7.
Present were all Council Members including President Beringer; Mayor Musial, Safety
Director Bohlmann, Service Director Jenkins, Finance Director Copfer.
