Council Minutes of 4/3/2001 <br />regarding Ordinance 2001-40 will be held at 7 p.m on Monday, April 30. Asked to <br />`_~ attend will be the Mayor, Assistant School Superintendent Sebring, Fine School principal <br />Dan Mohar and residents who have concerns with regard to Fine School traffic on <br />Sweetbriar. <br />2) The second meeting of the Public Safety Committee will occur on Monday, May 14, <br />in response to a growing perception on the part of the residents of perhaps unwarranted <br />ticketing. The STOP program will be discussed. Asked to attend will be the Safety <br />Director, Service Director and representatives of the Police Department. This will be an <br />opportunity for residents who have concerns or questions with regard to the STOP <br />program to voice those concerns. The media is asked to help notify residents with regard <br />to this meeting. <br />Mr. Nashar, chairperson of the Building, Zoning and Development Committee: 1) He <br />will again sponsor a vohmteer gun turn-in program With the help of Councilman Miller, <br />he has sponsored this successful event for the past three years. Police Chief Ruple has <br />expressed support for a continuation of the program A definite date has not yet been set, <br />but it will probably be one weekend in mid-May. <br />Mr. McKay, chairperson of the Environmental Control Committee: 1) The <br />Environmental Control Committee met on Monday, March 26, and discussed Resolution <br />2001-48. Present were committee members Dailey and McKay; Councilpersons Kasler <br />and O'Grady and Council President Saringer. Resolution 2001-48 will declare April 24, <br />2001 Arbor Day and the award of the Tree City USA to North Olmsted. The committee <br />recommended approval and also recommended suspension of the rule requiring three <br />readings. <br />LETTERS AND COMMUNICATIONS <br />President Saringer noted that she had received a letter from School Superintendent Dr. <br />Conner expressing thanks that she and Mrs. Kasler had attended a meeting with school <br />administrators and residents of the Cinnamon Woods development. The residents were <br />updated on what has taken place and what steps need to be taken to transfer their <br />neighborhood into the North Olmsted School District. <br />AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION <br />Don Pangrac, 23470 Sharon Drive, asked two questions: <br />1. What is happening with the electric utility negotiations? Mayor Musial said that <br />NOPEC had entered into a contract with Green Mountain. The contract provides for <br />a 1% reduction of the rate fee provided by CEI in our area. Letters should be mailed <br />to residents sometime this summer. <br />2. What is happening with water rates? He believes the City of Cleveland is gipping us <br />off' because money from the suburbs is being used to pay for road repairs in <br />Cleveland. He believes that issue needs to be followed up on, and he will continue to <br />ask the question on a routine basis. Mayor Musial said the Mayors & Managers <br />#~ Association of Cuyahoga County had formed a committee to look into the issue. <br />~. <br />7 <br />
