<br />will be introduced tonight and, hopefully, passed on suspension of the rule requiring
<br />three readings.
<br />Councilman Limpert, chairperson of the Streets & Drainage Committee: 1) The
<br />committee met on Monday, February 26, to discuss Resolution 2001-15. Present were
<br />Council members Kasler, Miller, McKay, O'Grady, Dailey, Limpert and Saringer;
<br />Service Director Bohlmann and bond counsel John Larson. This resolution is basically a
<br />boiler-plate legislation that is introduced each year to allow the Service Director to go out
<br />for bids for various construction and re-construction of catch basins, manholes,
<br />sidewalks, curbing and pavement repair. The committee recommended approval.
<br />Councilman McKay, chairperson of the Finance Committee: 1) The committee met in
<br />joint session with the Streets & Drainage Committee on Monday, February 26. Present
<br />were Council members Limpert, O'Grady, McKay, Dailey and Saringer; Service Director
<br />Bohhnann, Safety Director Jenkins, Springvale Manager Marty Young, bond counsel
<br />from Squire, Sanders & Dempsey John Larson, Matt Stuczynski of National City
<br />Investments Account Branch. Agenda items were as follows:
<br />• Resolution 2001-15, which authorizes the Service Director to advertise for bids for
<br />the construction of catch basins, manholes, sidewalks, curbing and paving repairs at
<br />various locations in the city. One of the locations is Sharon Drive. The committee
<br />recommended approval.
<br />• Resolution 2001-16, which authorizes the Service Director to advertise for bids for
<br />the reconstruction and paving of Sharon Drive. Committee recommended approval.
<br />• Ordinance 2001-18, which provides for the issuance and sale of bonds in the amount
<br />of $1,550,000 for improving certain streets in the city in cooperation with Cuyahoga
<br />County for the grading, draining, widening, reconstructing the pavement base, surface
<br />and resurfacing, constructing and reconstructing, curbs, gutters, catch basins, storm
<br />sewers, sanitary sewers, water lines, sidewalks, driveway aprons and installing a
<br />traffic sign and signalization also with the street lighting and related underground
<br />wiring and the necessary appurtenances with the related work. The committee
<br />recommended approval.
<br />• Ordinance 2001-19, which provides for the issuance and sale of bonds in the amount
<br />of $510,000 for the improvement of the city's storm water drainage by constructing,
<br />improving storm sewers, storm water drainage and the work incidental to the same.
<br />The committee recommended approval. This ordinance also relates to Porter Road,
<br />Sharon Drive and Columbia Road north of Lorain.
<br />2) The committee then met in joint session with the Recreation Committee. Those
<br />previously present were joined by Councilpersons Kasler, Miller and Nashar and Mayor
<br />Musial all of whom had been attending another committee meeting. The following items
<br />were discussed:
<br />• Ordinance 2001-17, which provides for the issuance and sale of bonds in the amount
<br />of $2,500,000 for improving the Springvale Golf Course and Ballroom by
