,... NORTH OLMSTED CITY COUNCIL
MINUTES OF THE PUBLIC HEARING
OCTOBER 1, 2002
Present: President of Council O'Grady, Council Members Dailey, Limpert, McKay,
Miller, Nashar
Also Present: Law Director Dubelko, Clerk of Council Seman
President of Council O'Grady called the public heazing to order at 7:15 p.m. in Council
Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio.
President O'Grady announced the public heazing was being held to discuss Ordinance
No. 2002-81, which provides for the rezoning of property at 3151 S Lorain Road (soccer
~, facility) from Limited Industry Industrial Park District to Motorist Service District.
AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION
Michael Gazeau, representing the property owner, Dale Schmidt, offered to answer any
questions about the rezoning request.
There were no questions from City Council.
Jeff Beyer, 31438 Lorain Road, owns property on the north side of Lorain Road in the
area of the soccer facility. He and his neighbors would like their side of Lorain Road to
be rezoned also. He believes their properties aze zoned residential and light industrial
and feels there is a higher and better use for the properties as they aze conveniently
located near highways. The residents would like the ability to sell their properties to a
developer.
Councilman Nashaz explained that the property owners could make application for a
rezoning. At this point in time, the city is not planning to do rezoning in that area.
Councilman Limpert said he believed Council was open to a zoning change. However,
he did not think it was a good idea to change the zoning now and then have to change it
again in a few years when a developer comes forwazd with a plan that might require a
different zoning.
Law Director Dubelko noted that the Council and/or the Planning Commission could
initiate a change of zoning in the area. Notice would have to be provided to the property
owners.
_ ~;~, .
