Mr. Machala was congratulated by <br />City Council, members of the administration and all who were present. <br />Resolution No. 2003-153 was introduced and placed on first reading by Councilman <br />Gazeau on behalf of the Mayor and the entire City Council. A resolution commending <br />the achievement by Patrick Daniel Grayshaw of the Eagle Scout Awazd in Boy Scouting. <br />Councilman Gareau moved for suspension of the rules requiring three readings and <br />committee review. Patrick <br />was congratulated by City Council, members of the administration and all who were <br />present. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Musial: 1) Congratulated the winners of the Council-at-Lazge races: Michael <br />Gazeau Jr., Carolyn Kasler and Paul Miller. He knows they will have four successful <br />yeazs and looks forwazd to cooperating with them for the benefit of the city. <br />2) He has attended several meetings during the course of the previous two weeks. On <br />October 28, he attended a meeting sponsored by the law firm of Bricker & Eckler to <br />discuss meeting regional needs through cooperation and common action. Invitees <br />included the Cuyahoga County Commissioners and members of the Mayors and <br />Managers Association. It was a general discussion involving what items can be <br />regionalized, such as water and the airport. Also, the possibility was raised of <br />cooperating in a master plan on urban suburban shared roads and regional lobbying for <br />federal and private foundation funds. The elimination of duplication of departments in <br />various cities does have the potential for increasing efficiency and reducing costs. It is <br />contemplated that there will be another meeting in the very near future to see in what <br />further direction this group can go. <br />3) On Sunday, October 19, he attended the 50'~ anniversary celebration for Mr. & Mrs. <br />Schuler at North Olmsted Manor Caze and presented them with a proclamation. <br />4) On October 27, he hosted a group of second-graders from Butternut School and <br />introduced them to city government. Service Director Dan Driscoll took them on a tour <br />of the Service Department, and then they were taken to the Police Department. The <br />program was repeated on October 29 with another group of second-graders. <br />5) On October 29, he participated in the one-year celebration of the opening of the RTA <br />Pazk-N-Ride facility. It is the most successful Park-N-Ride facility in the RTA system. <br />6) Recreation Center bleachers aze going to be installed in early December, and the <br />demolition of the old bleachers has been completed by our in-house staff. <br />7) Quotations will be received on November 12 for the vending and video games <br />contract for the Recreation complex, and security plans for the Recreation Center aze <br />continuing. <br />8) At the last Council meeting, a resident questioned the policy on enclosing ditches. He <br />asked the Service Director to look into that issue. The Service Director has reported that <br />a resident had purchased the pipe in May of 2002.
