There were
117 golfers participating, and they raised over $10,000. Glenn Adamson did another
fantastic job with regazds to that golf outing.
10) The K-9 officers Simon Cesareo and Manuel Roman, together with their dogs, Rico
and Boyko, will be attending advanced training this month.
11) Repairs to the roof on Fire Station No. 2 have been completed under budget. Repairs
have begun on the inside ceiling.
12) The Assistant Fire Chief testing has been completed with three candidates
successfully passing the oral and written examination. Anew Assistant Fire Chief will
be appointed after the Civil Service Commission certifies the test results.
13) Cazl Schantz and the fire fighters had their annual Cruise-in to raise funds for
Muscular Dystrophy. They had a vintage caz show of nearly 600 cars near the corporate
center azea, and they raised over $10,000. These gentlemen have done a fantastic job.
14) The recreation falUwinter program brochure has been prepazed and distributed to the
community. Registration should begin in eazly September. The advanced mailing was
30 days sooner than in times past, which should result in more resident participation.
15) The security training of all staff is on-going, and a special security training session is
to be held on Monday, August 18, 2003.
16) The golfing at Springvale is coming along fairly well. He played golf there at the
Municipal Financial Officers' Association along with Finance Director Copfer and John
Petty from National City Bank and Rick Capatelli. This "awesome foursome" took first
place and won the trophy!
17) The bookings for the ballroom schedule appeaz to be very strong. The unusual rainy
weather is cutting a little bit into the golf receipts, but hopefully that can be made up.
18) The Safety Dept. is logging all property maintenance complaints.
19) The posting for the building inspector position was made. This person could also
perform property maintenance inspection functions. It was determined to be a Civil
Service position, and the Safety Director is handling that situation.
Councilman Dailey noted, with regard to handling property maintenance complaints, that
the vacant property on Clague Road where the home burned down needs attemion. The
grass is 3 to 4 feet high in some areas. Mayor Musial said that he and the Service
Director have the memo about that situation and will look into it right away
Councilwoman Kasler asked for a more detailed explanation regarding the hiring of the
building inspector/property maintenance position. Law Director Dubelko said he recently
issued a memo to the Personnel Director and Civil Service Commission. Historically, it
has been a Civil Service testable position and advised that an examination be scheduled.
In the mean time, the administration can go forward to appoint an individual
provisionally so long as that person has the qualifications as established by the Civil
Service Commission and otherwise by Ohio law.
2
