Council Minutes of May 20, 2003 <br />Councilman Gareau and passed unanimously. Dennis Lambert, 25057 Carey Lane, asked <br />why ferrets were being included for rabies vaccinations because they do not run free. <br />How will this be enforced and how is it germane to anything as they are caged animals? <br />Councilman Nashar said it would give the Animal Warden the right to go to the pet stores <br />and make sure the animals have been vaccinated. Also, Cuyahoga County has adopted <br />this legislation. Councilman McKay said his neighbor had a ferret, and it got out every <br />two or three days and came over to his house. Councilman Nashar moved for adoption. <br />The motion was seconded by Councilman Gareau and passed unanimously. Ordinance <br />No. 2002-86 adopted as amended. <br />Ordinance No. 2002-87 introduced by Councilman Nashar was given its second reading. <br />An ordinance amending Section 505.01 of the General Offenses Code, entitled "Dogs and <br />Other Animals Running at Large," so as to require dogs to be leashed and under control <br />when not on the owner's premises, as amended. Councilman Nashar moved to amend <br />Ordinance 2003-87 to note that owners must have control of animals running loose and <br />the animals are to be leashed by the owners. Law Director Dubelko noted the <br />amendments involve some exceptions as set forth in paragraph B of 505.01. Mr. Nashar <br />accepted the amendment by the Law Director to be included in his motion. The motion <br />was seconded by Councilman Gareau and passed unanimously. An <br />ordinance granting to the City of Cleveland Division of Water a limited right of way and <br />easement within certain property owned by the City of North Olmsted at the North <br />Olmsted Library for maintenance of water meter vaults, and declaring an emergency. <br />Councilman Limpert moved for suspension of the rule requiring three readings. Ordinance No. 2003-75 adopted. <br />Resolution No. 2003-76 introduced by Mayor Musial was given its second reading. A <br />resolution authorizing the payment of thirteen thousand dollars ($13,000.00) to the North <br />Olmsted firefighters, IAFF Local 1267 for the distribution to specific officers of the <br />NOFD and in consideration of the settlement of grievances under the collective <br />bargaining agreement and declaring an emergency. Councilman McKay moved for <br />suspension of the rule requiring three readings. The motion was seconded by <br />Councilman Miller and passed unanimously.
