Council Minutes of 12/7/2004 <br />Councilman Miller, chairperson of the Public Safety, Health & Welfare Committee: 1) <br />The committee met this evening, and the following items were discussed: <br />• Resolution 2004-179, a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into aone-year <br />contract with Lexis-Nexis, a division of Reed Elsevier Inc., for the purpose of <br />providing Internet-based legal research services to the Police Department. Discussion <br />was rather brief. This is a contract that is over $2,000 but under $25,000, thus the <br />format for this resolution. It was discussed whether or not using aLexis-Nexis <br />contract by the Law Dept. and the Police Dept. jointly might result in some cost <br />savings. That had been discussed prior to the committee meeting, and it was <br />determined there would be no cost savings involved. The Safety Director advised <br />that it is primarily for the detective bureau. However because there were still some <br />outstanding questions as to the specific type of use for this program, the legislation <br />will be held in committee until needed more specific information is obtained. <br />• Liquor license permit transfer from Anton Eadeh, DBA Columbia Point Beverage and <br />Deli transfer of C1, C1, D6 to Jeries Eadeh at the same address. The Police Dept. <br />had advised that they were involved in an investigation at this site; however, they <br />have no objection to the transfer of this license. The committee agreed to not object <br />to the transfer. Councilman Miller made a motion that Council not object to the <br />liquor permit transfer from Anton Eadeh to Jeries Eadeh for Columbia Point <br />Beverage & Deli. The motion was seconded by Councilman Gareau and passed <br />unanimously. <br />• Liquor license permit transfer from Aoeshi Corp., 24539 Lorain Road, to R & J <br />Damoa Corp., DBA Aeoshi, at the same address. This is a D1, D2, D3 D3A, D6 <br />license, and the Police Dept. had no objections. The committee recommended to not <br />object to the transfer. Councilman Miller made a motion that Council not object to <br />the liquor permit transfer from Aoeshi Corp., 24539 Lorain Road, to R & J Damoa <br />Corp;, 24539 Lorain Road. The motion was seconded by Councilman Gareau and <br />passed unanimously. <br />• Liquor license permit name change from Alexander's Restaurant & Billiards Inc., <br />30850 Lorain Road, a D5, D6 license, to the new name of Alexander's Pub & Grill. <br />The Police Dept. has no objections. The committee voted 2-0, with Mr. Gareau <br />abstaining for professional reasons, to not object to the transfer of the new name. <br />Councilman Miller made a motion that Council not object to the liquor permit <br />transfer for the name change of Alexander's Restaurant & Billiards Inc., 30850 Lorain <br />Road, to Alexander's Pub & Grill, Inc., 30850 Lorain Road. The motion was <br />seconded by Councilwoman Kasler. Roll call: Miller, yes; Kasler, yes; Dailey, yes; <br />McKay, yes; Nashar, yes; Limpert, yes; Gareau, abstained from vote on the matter <br />and noted that he took no part in a deliberation, discussion or vote on this based upon <br />a professional representation with the business as well as the individual shareholders <br />in the corporation. The motion passed with 6 yes votes and 1 abstention. <br />Councilman Gareau, chairperson of the Building, Zoning & Development Committee: 1) <br />The committee met at 6:45 p.m. on November 22 at the Senior Center.
