Council Minutes of 11/3/2004
capital structure, that being a community center complex to serve not only the needs of
,~~; our young families in North Olmsted but also a very active and growing class of senior
North Olmsted residents.
3) Attended both the Noon and five o'clock hearings on October 21, 2004 which RTA
scheduled for discussions regarding the continued vitality of our Route 53 NOMBL bus
line. In substance, with the able assistance of Tom Terbrack and his staff, a very
impressive proposal was presented to RTA wherein a circulatory route was established
which would interconnect the Westgate Mall, the North Olmsted Mall and Crocker Park.
It was pointed out that there isn't any RTA route that is profitable. Further, North
Olmsted contributes somewhere between $10 million and $20 million in sales tax dollars
to RTA. We expect some of these dollars to come back to North Olmsted to provide
services for our residents who are in need, don't drive a car or can't afford to own a car.
4) On October 21, 2004, he presented a State of the City message to the North Olmsted
Chamber of Commerce.
5) Yesterday, he participated in a "rib cutting" ceremony at the grand opening of Famous
Dave's Barbecue in North Olmsted.
6) A Veteran's Day ceremony will be held on Thursday, November 11, at 1:20 p.m. in
front of Old Town Hall where we will salute, honor and remember our veterans. We
have invited the North Olmsted March Band to participate in the ceremony along with the
North Olmsted VFW Post 7647 leading the flag raising and posting of colors with the
Rocky River American Legion Post 451. Everyone is invited to attend to recognize
veterans of North Olmsted and of the nation on this very important day.
7) The Recreation Department is very busy completing outdoor projects before the
winter, including the basketball court completion, baseball and softball field realignment
and playground equipment installation for North Olmsted Park. Hockey board
renovation and entrance planter wall reconstruction are also being completed.
Advertising at the center is the subject of an ordinance before Council this evening. It's
being viewed as a good revenue generating project for the Recreation Department.
Thank you to Recreation Commissioner Ted DiSalvo for his efforts and work in bringing
this new concept to the city.
Law Director Dubelko: 1) Litigation update:
^ October 21, in Rocky River Court, a defendant was found guilty and fined a total of
$325 for a violation of the Real Property Maintenance Code involving storage of gas
pumps on residential property.
