Kasler
Councilman Nashar, chairperson of the Streets & Transportation Committee, noted that a
top priority of the committee will be to look at future proposals for Claque Road repairs.
Councilman Gareau commented that he would have his last report as chairperson of the
Recreation Committee at the next Council as the Recreation Commission met last
evening.
Councilman Miller thanked everyone who had attended the swearing-in ceremony on
December 30, 2003 for Council members Kasler, Gareau and Miller. It was quite a nice
affair.
AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION
Dennis Lambert, 25057 Carey Lane
• Inquired of Councilwoman Kasler if the issue of a mayor's court has been dropped.
Mrs. Kasler said, no, but to say it is under consideration is probably a stretch. What
was decided was to give the Rocky River Court at least a year under the
recommendations that arose out of the discussion of the mayor's court. There were
several issues that the court chose to address in streamlining some of the overtime
that was occurring with our police officers sitting in court. It is on her agenda, at the
urging of Mr. Nashar, to look into the results of those changes to see whether or not
it's still beneficial to consider bringing a mayor's court to North Olmsted. Law
Director Dubelko commented that a mayor's court can only be instituted by the
Mayor. It is statutory and state law.
• He is concerned about the walking path on Cedar Point Hill going into the park. The
white stripes on the road are now missing, and people are driving all over right up to
the curb as people are trying to walk up and down the park entrance. He would like
to see the lanes shifted and a barrier put between the road and the path. Mrs. Kasler
said she will review previous memos she had written regarding this issue and will
address it with the Service Director. Mr. Miller said his recollection in regards to the
Cedar Point Hill issue was there was not an overwhelming interest on the part of the
Police Department to get behind an effort to building a better barrier.
~µ
4
