<br />Council Minutes of 11/1/2005 <br />passed unanimously. Resolution No. 2005-161 adopted. President Kennedy asked Elliot <br />to come forward, and the legislation was read in its entirety. Michael was recognized by <br />Council, the administration and all present. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor O'Grady: 1) The city is getting ready to rotate out a number of bicycles that were <br />either lost or stolen. Anyone who has lost a bicycle should contact the Fleet Manager at <br />716-4160. Proof of ownership or a good description will be needed. <br />2) This is the last full week of our military support initiative. We are asking citizens to <br />donate new items of clothing-T-shirts, walking shorts, gym shorts for our service <br />members serving overseas or recovering in United States military hospitals. Also <br />packaged food items, especially microwave popcorn, can be dropped off with Human <br />Resources/Community Life Services Director Dailey. <br />3) The Veterans' Day ceremony will be held at 1:15 p.m. on Friday, November 11, in <br />front of Old Towne Hall. All are welcome. <br />4) HEAP, the Home Energy Assistance Program, will be having akign-up at the North <br />Olmsted Senior Center on November 17. Those wishing to apply should bring a recent <br />utility bill and a bank statement or Social Security benefit statement that shows income. <br />Eligibility is based on 175% of the poverty ranking, those over 65 years of age or with a <br />disabled person in the house. Please contact the Senior Center for more information. <br />5) One week from today is election day. Exercise your right to vote. If you do not vote, <br />you give up your voice in your government. <br />6) Departments: <br />Human Resources/Community Life Services <br />• Kicking off the annual food drive. All food donations can be dropped off <br />at City Hall during normal working hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cash <br />donations are welcome. We will be helping 75-100 needy families. <br />• Seeking donations for the Adopt-A-Family program. Local businesses or <br />organizations are looking to get involved and make a difference for the <br />needy in our community. Please call Director John Dailey. <br />PersonneUHuman Resources <br />• Director Cheryl Farver recently attended anall-day conference put on by <br />SERB on public sector fact-finding. <br />• The employee health care committee met on October 24 to review bids for <br />the 2006 coverage. The reduction in personnel from RTA's assimilation <br />of NOMBL had no impact on the bids. The committee is scheduled to <br />meet again on November 2 to review the final submittal from Medical <br />Mutual of Ohio and then to discuss strategies for cost containment. <br />Planning <br />• Emerald Village, a senior housing facility to be built immediately west of <br />St. Clarence Church on Lorain Road, has a ground breaking scheduled for <br />November 9, at 11 a.m. <br />2 <br />
