Council Minutes of 6-7-2005
• Regarding the construction on the outdoor pool, he believes the pool is all complete
and ready to go. Mayor O'Grady said the construction was certainly a massive piece
of work that was done on very short notice. It is something that should have been
identified in the fall of last year. Instead it was brought to the attention of the Service
Dept. very soon after he took office. It is a credit to the Service Dept. and the
professionalism of the employees as to the job they have done to completely excavate
around this pool and then rebuild and seal it. The work is coming to a conclusion
very shortly. Councilman Miller commented that the Recreation Commission was
quite happy with the job. The Service Dept., as the Mayor indicated, is to be
congratulated and acknowledged for the job they undertook in such short time.
• His outstanding public records request continues to be addressed and credit should be
given to Donna Murphy for her efforts in pulling it together. As he looks at the
information, it seems to him to be a huge increase in the quality of the work and the
accuracy of the information recorded. That is very much to Mrs. Copfer's credit.
Service Director Driscoll said that the outdoor pool has a very delicate stainless steel wall
and frame. They found out very quickly that it could be easily damaged, bent or broken
if it's not handled carefully. So, they have to proceed in small sections as they go around
the pool to get the work done. He expects to be done with the concrete work by June 14.
In answer to a question by Mr. Gareau about the expected life of the improvements, he
said he is very satisfied with the work that is being done and feels it could possibly last
more than five years. However, he has been telling the Recreation Commissioner and the
Safety Director to consider this afive-year fix and to consider what needs to be done with
the pool in the future.
Dennis Lambert, 25057 Carey Lane, feels the changes that have occurred on Council
have been done well. He feels people are working together despite political differences.
Congratulations to all who have been appointed. It certainly does show a terrific ability
to acclimate new people into an already existing situation and a rather dire situation
financially for this community.
LEGISLATION
Resolution No. 2005-71 introduced by Mayor O'Grady was given its third reading. A
resolution authorizing the Director of Public Service to advertise for bids for the
transportation and disposal of bio-solids from the Wastewater Treatment Plant, and
authorizing the Mayor, subject to approval by the Board of Control, if necessary, to enter
into a contract for same, and declaring an emergency. Councilman McKay moved for
adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilman Gareau and passed unanimously.
Resolution No. 2005-71 adopted.
Resolution No. 2005-72 introduced by Mayor O'Grady was given its third reading. A
resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into a renewed one-year service contract with
Stephen Campbell & Associates, Inc., for maintenance of the 32 channel optical
recording equipment used by the North Olmsted Police Department, and declaring an
11
