Council Minutes of 6-7-2005 <br />Councilman-at-Lazge <br />Councilman-at-Large <br />President of Council <br />Boy Scout co-Mayor <br />Girl Scout co-Mayor <br />Veronica Lommler, Troop 1497 <br />Michael Stewazd, Troop 53 <br />Mickey Gruscinski, Troop 960 <br />Steven DeArmon, Troop 630 <br />Jillian Miles, Troop 1497 <br />Mr. & Mrs. Scouting and the Scout Honorary Officials were congratulated and <br />recognized by all who were present. <br />Mayor O'Grady presented a proclamation to Mr. Jimmy Lee, a representative from the <br />American Cancer Society, in recognition of the Relay for Life sponsored by the <br />American Cancer Society which will be held on Friday, June 10, and Saturday, June 11, <br />at Westlake High School. The Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society's signature <br />activity and offers everyone in the Westshore area an opportunity to participate in the <br />fight against cancer. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor O'Grady: <br />1) Week of May 16: <br />• Attended the NOHS Senior Honors ceremony. <br />• Officiated at the swearing-in ceremony for officers of the North Olmsted Chamber of <br />Commerce. <br />• Met with representatives of SBC and the Illuminating Company to discuss customer <br />service issues. <br />• Attended a cookout hosted by the Kiwanis Club and the North Olmsted City Schools <br />for the benefit of our handicapped students. <br />• Opened the 2005 Annual North Olmsted Ice Show. He was joined by Councilman <br />Dean McKay and his family for this great event, and everyone is encouraged to attend <br />in the future. <br />• Opened the 2005 season of the North Olmsted Hot Stove League. <br />• Attended a ceremony for Boy Scout Troop 204 at Clague Road Church. <br />2) Week of May 23: <br />• Met with members of our Firefighters local and management to discuss working <br />relationships. This discussion is continuing through our labor-management group. <br />• Met with representatives of the Cuyahoga County Public Library system to discuss <br />use of funds remaining from the North Olmsted Library construction. Council has <br />been copied on a follow-up letter from Executive Director Sari Feldman. <br />• Met with representatives of Wal-Mart. <br />• Attended the DARE graduation at Pine School and the Undergraduate Honors <br />Ceremony at NOHS. <br />• Attended a meeting of the Record's Commission where investigation continues <br />regarding storage and retention of city records. <br />• Spoke to 750 students at Lakewood's Emerson Middle School about Memorial Day <br />and character issues. <br />3 <br />
