Council Minutes of 6-7-2005 <br />• Along with Human Resources Director John Dailey, met with Lakewood's Director <br />of Human Services to discuss programs. <br />• Presented the Citizenship Award to students at NOMS during their 8th Grade Awards <br />Ceremony. <br />3) Week of May 30: <br />• Spoke at Memorial Day ceremonies at City Hall, Coe Cemetery, Butternut Cemetery, <br />and North Olmsted Park. Presented a proclamation to Laurie Goyetche during these <br />ceremonies for her work in creating and maintaining the veterans display case. This <br />case was made possible with the financial assistance of the North Olmsted VFW and <br />is located at the North Olmsted Recreation Center. Also worked with Laurie to get a <br />video presentation of each of the veterans. It was played on our public access <br />channels this past weekend and will be shown again with additional pictures of other <br />veterans. <br />• Attended a meeting of the Westshore Council of Governments where the focus of the <br />discussion was the potential for North Olmsted's participation in the Central Dispatch <br />Center located at Saint John West Shore Hospital. Based upon those discussions, he <br />will be introducing legislation today for Council's consideration. <br />• At the May 31 directors' meeting, the appraisal on the proposed Fire Station #2 <br />property was reviewed and it has been forwarded to Council. <br />• On June 1, officiated at the swearing-in of Safety Director Duane Limpert and Human <br />Resources Director John Dailey and welcomed them to his administration. <br />• Judged the 6th grade poster contest at Toys-R-Us. <br />• Attended a retirement party for HR Director Don Copeland and HR Secretary <br />Maryann Pack. It was a great event that was well-orchestrated by Chris Allegra and <br />the HR staff. <br />• Attended the NOHS Commencement. <br />• Joined with President of Council Kennedy to present a proclamation to North <br />Olmsted resident Leslie Ondrey as she prepares to participate in the Miss Ohio <br />competition later this month. She presented an operatic song which was spectacular. <br />We have a chance of bringing home another state-wide award to our community. <br />4) Week of June 6: <br />• Presented a proclamation at the North Olmsted Senior Center on the occasion of the <br />25th Anniversary of the center and the Division on Aging. <br />• Presented a proclamation to Monica Olivier of Mexico, making her an Honorary <br />Citizen of the City of North Olmsted as she prepares to return home after spending <br />her senior year as a student at NOHS. <br />• Attended a Silver Star dinner for Girl Scouts of America awardees. <br />• Participated as a trustee for a meeting of the North Olmsted City Schools Education <br />Foundation. <br />• Participated in a Board of Control where bids for asphalt and stone were approved, <br />and where two older vehicles were approved for auction. <br />• Today discussed with the Service Director an issue that was raised by Councilman <br />Miller-drinking fountains at Barton/Bradley soccer fields.
