Council Minutes of 6-7-2005 • Along with Human Resources Director John Dailey, met with Lakewood's Director of Human Services to discuss programs. • Presented the Citizenship Award to students at NOMS during their 8th Grade Awards Ceremony. 3) Week of May 30: • Spoke at Memorial Day ceremonies at City Hall, Coe Cemetery, Butternut Cemetery, and North Olmsted Park. Presented a proclamation to Laurie Goyetche during these ceremonies for her work in creating and maintaining the veterans display case. This case was made possible with the financial assistance of the North Olmsted VFW and is located at the North Olmsted Recreation Center. Also worked with Laurie to get a video presentation of each of the veterans. It was played on our public access channels this past weekend and will be shown again with additional pictures of other veterans. • Attended a meeting of the Westshore Council of Governments where the focus of the discussion was the potential for North Olmsted's participation in the Central Dispatch Center located at Saint John West Shore Hospital. Based upon those discussions, he will be introducing legislation today for Council's consideration. • At the May 31 directors' meeting, the appraisal on the proposed Fire Station #2 property was reviewed and it has been forwarded to Council. • On June 1, officiated at the swearing-in of Safety Director Duane Limpert and Human Resources Director John Dailey and welcomed them to his administration. • Judged the 6th grade poster contest at Toys-R-Us. • Attended a retirement party for HR Director Don Copeland and HR Secretary Maryann Pack. It was a great event that was well-orchestrated by Chris Allegra and the HR staff. • Attended the NOHS Commencement. • Joined with President of Council Kennedy to present a proclamation to North Olmsted resident Leslie Ondrey as she prepares to participate in the Miss Ohio competition later this month. She presented an operatic song which was spectacular. We have a chance of bringing home another state-wide award to our community. 4) Week of June 6: • Presented a proclamation at the North Olmsted Senior Center on the occasion of the 25th Anniversary of the center and the Division on Aging. • Presented a proclamation to Monica Olivier of Mexico, making her an Honorary Citizen of the City of North Olmsted as she prepares to return home after spending her senior year as a student at NOHS. • Attended a Silver Star dinner for Girl Scouts of America awardees. • Participated as a trustee for a meeting of the North Olmsted City Schools Education Foundation. • Participated in a Board of Control where bids for asphalt and stone were approved, and where two older vehicles were approved for auction. • Today discussed with the Service Director an issue that was raised by Councilman Miller-drinking fountains at Barton/Bradley soccer fields. The initial construction 4
