<br />Councilman Nashar, chairperson of the Streets & Transportation Committee: 1) The
<br />committee met on May 10. Present were committee members Dailey, McKay and
<br />Nashar; Council members Limpert, Miller, Gareau; Mayor O'Grady, Council President
<br />Kennedy, Service Director Driscoll, City Engineer Durbin, Personnel Director Farver and
<br />guests. Agenda items were as follows:
<br />• Resolution 2005-65, a resolution authorizing the Mayor to advertise for bids for
<br />asphalt pavement repairs, recycling and resurfacing along with related catch basin,
<br />manhole, sidewalk and curbing repairs at various locations in the City of North
<br />Olmsted as detailed in the specifications on file, further authorizing the Mayor to
<br />enter into a contract with the lowest and best bidder for said repairs, and declaring an
<br />emergency. In conjunction with Resolution 2005-65 is Resolution 2005-66, a
<br />resolution authorizing the Director of Public Service to advertise for bids for catch
<br />basin, manhole, sidewalk curbing and concrete pavement repairs at various locations
<br />in the North Park Estates subdivision in the City of North Olmsted as detailed in the
<br />specifications on file, further authorizing the Mayor to enter into a contract with the
<br />lowest and best bidder for said repairs. The streets that are slated for repairs for
<br />asphalt include the following: North Park Drive, East Park Drive at North Park, Lucy
<br />Drive and Florence Avenue. The total cost for this project comes to $346,000. The
<br />city will be able to recycle $140,000 of asphalt, and then we will borrow $206,000 for
<br />the two resolutions. The committee recommend approval and passage under
<br />suspension of the rule for both resolutions.
<br />• Resolution 2005-67, a resolution authorizing the Director of Public Service to
<br />advertise for bids for catch basin, manhole, sidewalk, curbing, concrete step and
<br />concrete pavement repairs at various locations in the Sandy Ridge Subdivision,
<br />Senior Citizens Center and Police Department in the City of North Olmsted as
<br />detailed in the specifications on file, further authorizing the Mayor to enter into a
<br />contract with the lowest and best bidder for said repairs and declaring an emergency.
<br />Projects include the repair of approximately 15 ADA ramps along Lorain Road
<br />starting at Canterbury Road and heading west; repair of crumbling steps at the North
<br />Olmsted Police Department; North Park Drive at the Senior Center and the Senior
<br />Center parking lot. The total estimated cost is approximately $165,00, and $65,000
<br />will come from asphalt recycling and the balance of $100,000 will be borrowed. The
<br />committee recommended approval and passage under suspension of the rule.
<br />• Resolution 2005-68, a resolution authorizing the Director of Public Service to
<br />advertise for bids for 5,000 tons of stone for various Service Department needs, as per
<br />specifications on file in his office, and authorizing the Mayor, subject to approval by
<br />the Board of Control, if necessary, to enter into a contract for same and declaring an
<br />emergency. This is an annual bid, and the committee recommended approval and
<br />passage under suspension of the rule.
<br />• Resolution 2005-69, a resolution authorizing the Director of Public Service to
<br />advertise for bids for 5,000 tons of asphalt and tack coating for various streets in the
<br />City of North Olmsted, as per specifications on file in his office, and authorizing the
<br />Mayor, subject to approval by the Board of Control, if necessary, to enter into a
