i <br />.. <br />• Council Minutes of 4/19/2(}05 <br />There were no further nominations, and President Pro Tem Gazeau closed the <br />nominations. He called for a roll call of Council and asked them to name the candidate of <br />their choice. <br />Roll call: Mrs. Kasler: Mr. Kennedy; Mr. Limpert: Mr. Kennedy; Mr. Dailey: Mr. <br />Kennedy; Mr. Miller: Kevin Kennedy; Mr. Nashaz: Mr. Kevin Kennedy; Mr. Gazeau: <br />Mr. Kevin Kennedy. Mr. Kevin Kennedy was unanimously approved to fill the <br />unexpired term of President of Council until December 31, 2005. <br />C <br />Mr. Kevin Kennedy came forward to take the oath of office as administered by Dean <br />DePiero, Mayor of the City of Parma. Mayor DePiero said it was an honor for him as he <br />has known Kevin and his family for about 20 years. The Kennedy family is involved in <br />their community and are well respected. He knows Kevin as a friend and business <br />associate, knows he is hard working and will serve this community well. Mr. Kennedy <br />recited the oath of office and was congratulated by all present. Mr. Kennedy expressed <br />thanks to all who had helped him, and he especially thanked his family and friends for <br />their support. <br />President of Council Kennedy took his seat, and the meeting continued. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor O'Grady: 1) Congratulations to President of Council Kennedy. <br />2) He spoke to Councilman Dean McKay who is home recovering after a short hospital <br />stay. Dean is in good spirits, but he was still feeling a bit run down. Please keep him in <br />your thoughts. Our best wishes go to Mr. Miller whose father is ailing a bit. <br />3) During the week of April 4, he attended a Mayors and Managers Roundtable hosted by <br />the Cuyahoga County Commissioners. The key issues discussed were the opportunities <br />toward regionalization and the impact of the state budget. Also discussed were potential <br />advantages of a Cuyahoga County booking and confinement facility, which is currently <br />being studied. <br />4) He attended a meeting of the Cultural Activities Commission where a thorough <br />presentation of the possible future of the Middle School Theater was discussed. If the <br />proposed levy passes this November, this would be one of the very nice assets available <br />to the entire community. He also attended a Board of Edudation presentation the <br />following evening on the same subject and again it was very professionally done. <br />5} He took a ride through Springvale's golf course with the Safety Director and met with <br />the leadership at Springvale as they analyzed the needs and the attributes of the course. <br />The course does look very good. <br />6) He also met with the Service Dept. and was briefed by all the different department <br />heads on the issues they have before them. From our Director of Service on down, the <br />Service Dept. is in excellent shape. <br />7} During a performance at North Olmsted High School, he presented a proclamation to <br />visiting Canadian musicians from Gravenhurst Secondary School in the Muskoka Lake <br />School District. <br />2 <br />
