In North Park Estates: Camellia
Lane, Nandina, Azalea north portion, east portion of Oring, Andorra, and Gazdenia.
The committee recommended approval of the replacement of these streets in concrete.
The Service Director stated it could be done this yeaz.
• Capital improvements at the WWTP: plant supplies, $5,675; plant equipment
purchases, $99,788; systems equipment purchase, $83,000; capital improvements
systems, $50,000; plant equipment repair, $36,000; consulting services for the plant,
$20,000; consultant services for systems, $14,240. The committee recommended
approval.
• The total borrowing this year for capital improvements will be approximately $6.5
million, which will be introduced in legislation farm to be discussed in Finance.

Councilman Limpert: 1) This past Sunday evening, he and the Service Director met with
the homeowners' association of Canterbury Woods. Currently, in the capital
improvement plan, asphalt overlays are scheduled for that development. The residents
are concerned. They are proud and fond of the concrete surfaces of their streets. He
thinks this is not something we should enter into lightly. If the city is going to follow
through with asphalt overlay, we have salesmanship to do. It would be unfortunate to
begin with asphalt overlay and then go back to doing replacement of concrete and slab
repair in other areas. He is not asking for the money that has been scheduled to be
removed, and we have conunitted to more communication with the residents. Service
Director Driscoll came forward and said he stated, if the residents had concerns they
wanted to address to their Councilpersons about that project, they should be comfortable
in getting that information to the Councilpersons by June 1. We are going to move
forward with legislation and the bidding process and continue as we have planned.
Councilman Limpert said he wanted all of Council to be aware of this because street
conditions are key in a neighborhood, and the residents of that neighborhood take a great
deal of pride in the concrete streets they've had for many years.
Councilman Miller remarked that he had asked that the streets in the Laurel Woods
development be added to the note borrowing ordinance for consideration in the event that
funds are left over after Sandy Ridge and North Park streets are completed. He does not
see those streets in the note borrowing ordinance and reminds Council that he had asked
that those streets be added in case there were additional funds. There are some very bad
streets in the Lauren Woods development-not as bad as North Park or Sandy Ridge-
but right behind it. He asked that this be looked at in committee and also that some of the
spellings of the streets be double checked.
Councilman Limpert, chairperson of the Intro-Governmental Relations Committee: 1)
The committee met on April 12 to interview two board and commission appointees:
Donna Sabo to the Board of Building Code Appeal and Jason Werner to the Architectural
Review Board. Present were committee members Kasler, Miller and Limpert; Council
members Dailey, Gazeau, Nashaz, McKay; Mayor O'Grady.
7
