Council Minutes of 3/1/2005
appoint Meenal P. Parikh to the Fair Housing Review Board for the term of 1/1/OS to
12/31/08. The motion was seconded by Councilman Miller. Roll call: Limpert, yes;
Miller, yes, with thanks to both of these individuals for being willing to serve. Roll call
continued: Kasler, yes; Gazeau, yes; Dailey, yes; McKay, yes; Nashaz, yes. The motion
passed unanimously.
Councilman Gareau, member of the Fair Housing Review Board, commented that, with
these reappointments, the board is fully staffed and ready to proceed with its
responsibilities. Regarding the RTA/NOMBL issue, thank you to the negotiating team-
those members of the North Olmsted administration who have worked so incredibly hazd
negotiating with the Greater Cleveland RTA to come to some conclusion and resolution
on our differences. Thank you to them for their time and effort. President O'Grady listed
the members of the team: Law Director Jim Dubelko, Finance Director Came Copfer,
Service Director Dan Driscoll, NOMBL General Mgr. Tom Terbrack and alternate
member NOMBL Operations Mgr. Scott Uhas.
Councilman Miller, chairperson of the Public Safety, Health & Welfaze Committee: 1)
The committee met briefly this evening to discuss a DS and D6 liquor license transfer
from Madira Corp., DBA Sly Fox, 4755 Great Northern Blvd. to Bennmax Inc., DBA Sly
Fox Tavern, at the same address. Josephine Savarino, a resident of Olmsted Township, is
the president, secretary and treasurer. The Police Dept. had no objection to this transfer.
Based on that, the committee recommended not to object to the transfer. Councilman
Miller made a motion that Council not object to the D5, D6 liquor transfer from Madira
Corp., DBA Sly Fox, 4755 Great Northern Blvd. to Bennmax Inc., DBA Sly Fox Tavern,
4755 Great Northern Blvd. The motion was seconded by Councilwoman Kasler and
passed unanimously.
Councilman Gazeau, chairperson of the Building, Zoning and Development Committee.
The committee met on February 22, 2005. Present were committee members Limpert,
McKay, Gareau; Councilmen Nashaz, Dailey and President O'Grady; Law Director
Dubelko, Service Director Driscoll, NOMBL Mgr. Terbrack, Building Commissioner
Conway. The committee reviewed Ordinance 2005-15, an ordinance authorizing the
Director of Public Safety to request proposals for plans examiner and back-up plans
examiner services; further, authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the
examiners selected in the RFP process and approved by the Boazd of Control; and
declaring an emergency. This was a housekeeping piece of legislation. In yeazs past, the
plans examiner and back-up plans examiner were hired on staggered terms. Council
expressed a desire that these be combined and the city seek proposals from multiple
individuals, hopefully to realize a cost savings and to streamline the process. The
committee unanimously recommended approval of Ordinance 2005-15.
AUAIENCE PARTICIPATEON
Dennis Lambert, 25057 Cazey Lane, spoke about the position of President of Council.
He has sent a proposal to the Charter Review Commission for the elimination of that
position. His proposal also suggests that the position be appointed from the Council-at-
5
