Council Minutes of 2/1/20()5
additional changes to correct what could be a potential problem. The committee voted
unanimously to keep Ordinance 2005-11 in committee.
AUDIENCE PART~CIFATI4N
Dennis Lambert, 25057 Cazey Lane, is concerned about NOMBL. He feels Councilman Miller
is right about diversifying the approach and attempting to get the state reps involved. He
suggested that Mr. Miller approach his contacts in the unions and that Mr. O'Grady speak to state
representative Sally Conway Kilbane. Mr. O'Grady answered that he has already spoken to Mrs.
Kilbane and state senator Bob Spada. On the topic of regional government, Mr. Lambert
expressed his dislike of that issue. He feels there is no better example against regional
government than RTA. Publicly and in the media, this city needs to stand together with other
cities who also do not believe in regionalization. When county commissioners campaign here for
votes, we should let them know we have had our fill of regional government and RTA. That
would play very well against those who have interest in that like Jane Campbell and others who
are looking toward the suburbs to help bail them out.
Janet Saringer, 23336 Stoneybrook Drive, commended and thanked the BZD Committee for
sticking to their guns with regazd to Parcel E. A lot of hard work was put in on that issue, a lot
of meetings, and a lot of years. She hopes they continue in the future to represent the people.
Charles Dial, 27959 Gardenia, expressed concern that the Springvale task force report has not
been formally presented to City Council. He feels the task force did a good job and it was not a
political whitewash. At least one or two of the members of the task force are offended because
they did not get any recognition. Regazding his public records requests, progress is being made.
Mayor Musial said Mr. Dial's comment regarding the task force report was well taken. A
presentation to Council from the task force is being planned right after the appropriations process
is complete.
Councilman Dailey said that Councilman Gareau had asked last week about a report from the
Springvale task force, and he had asked again this evening during caucus. They were assured of
a meeting prior to the budget process. Before money is appropriated for Springvale this year,
Council wants to know what has taken place and what are the future plans.
Finance Committee chairperson Kasler agreed and said she is waiting for the task force meeting
before scheduling the budget meetings.
Mr. Dial said one central point of the task force report was, when Springvale was purchased, the
city paid a lot more money than what it was worth as a golf course because a developer was
looking to get it. To get the green space and preserve it as a green space, the city had to pay
more than the golf course's worth.

8
