Council Minutes of 12/19/2006 <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor O'Grady: 1) As chairman of the Westshore Council of Governments, he invited <br />experts from CSU's Levin College of Urban Affairs to provide insights on the creation of <br />a regional fire district. More will follow as this process continues. <br />2) Departments: <br />• Community Life Services. The Information and Outreach Department is <br />available to present information on the Home Energy Assistance Program <br />(HEAP) to our seniors and disabled adults as well as assisting them complete the <br />application. Home visits can be made for those who are homebound with <br />physical disabilities. For further information contact Director Dailey. <br />• Human Resources. The Employee Appreciation Holiday Brunch will be held <br />tomorrow at Springvale from 10:45 am to 2:00 pm. All of Council is invited to <br />attend. <br />• Planning. The Cultural Activities Commission will hold their holiday celebration <br />at Old Town Hall on Thursday, December 28, at 7 pm, and Friday, December 29, <br />at 7:30 pm. The event will include music, activities, and refreshments, with and <br />a puppet show on Thursday and a performance by The Minimum Requirements <br />(band) on Friday. <br />• Safety. On this upcoming Saturday, four of our police officers will take part in a <br />ceremony prior to the Cleveland Browns game. They along with 170 other police <br />officers and firefighters will unfurl a flag the size of the football field. The <br />officers involved are Sergeant Don Walling, Patrolman Jim Yost, Patrolwoman <br />Angel Kazy, and Detective Ken Vagase. <br />3) Happy Holidays to all of Council, and to all our residents. <br />Law Director Dubelko: 1) The Law Department's annual report will be ready for the first <br />meeting in January. <br />Finance Director Copfer: 1) She received final Schedule A setting the assessed valuation <br />of the city. Real property is increasing, but there is a reduction in personal property <br />taxes. She will make a full report soon. The assessed valuation increased to <br />$935,651,977. <br />Councilman Gareau, chairperson of the BZD Committee: 1) The BZD committee met on <br />Tuesday, December 12, 2006. Present were committee members Gareau, Orlowski and <br />Miller; Council members Barker, Jones, Council President Kennedy; Mayor O'Grady, <br />Asst. Law Director O'Malley, Human Resources Director Farver, Safety Director <br />Terbrack, and Service Director Limpert. The following items were discussed: <br />Red Lobster, 25615 Brookpark Road. This proposal consists of an amendment to <br />approved landscape plans. The city determined that the landscaping installed on <br />the site was different than that which was approved by the Planning Commission <br />and City Council last year. The applicant submitted the as-built drawings for a <br />minor change approval, but those were denied. The landscape changes included <br />2 <br />
