Council Minutes of 11/21/2006
GMC Bus T8H-5307A) owned by the City of North Olmsted to the Ohio Museum of
Transportation. Council Member Dailey Jones moved for suspension of the rules
requiring three readings and noted the legislation had been reviewed in committee. The
motion was seconded by Councilman Barker and passed unanimously. Dennis Lambert,
25057 Carey Lane, asked if anyone had figured out the cost of transporting the bus to
Toledo and what the scrap value of a 1976 GMC bus is and what the city could realize in
scrap? Did anybody consider the possibility of putting this bus in the park, removing the
wheels, opening it up for the kids, dismantling the steering wheel so they can go in and
spin it and also use it as a shelter in a park area? Councilman Miller said he believed
Service Director Limpert could provide information on the cost of transportation.
Service Director Limpert said he is not anticipating any cost to the city. Donald Pangrac,
23470 Sharon Drive, said he had hoped the city could keep title to the vehicle so that at
some time in the future, if the opportunity should present itself, there may be some
interested citizens in the city that would take on the task of refurbishing it and that we
could get it back. Council Member Dailey Jones moved for adoption, and the motion
was seconded by Councilman Barker. Roll call: Jones, yes; Barker, yes; Tallon, yes;
Gareau, yes; Ryan, no; Orlowski, yes; Miller, yes with comment that he regretfully votes
yes. He hates to dispose of part of our history, but the fact that we have an even older bus
in better condition certainly gives him confidence that we are saving some of our history.
Also, he is confident the Service Director has done his best to find any other reasonable
options. He thinks all of Council dislikes getting rid of city history, but it seems to be the
feasible thing to do. The motion passed with six yes votes and one no vote.
