Council Minutes of 5/3/2006 <br />Resolution No. 2006-87 was introduced and placed on first reading by Mayor O'Grady. <br />A resolution authorizing the Director of Public Service to advertise for bids for the <br />purchase of 5,000 tons of stone for various Service Department needs throughout the city <br />as detailed in the specifications on file, further authorizing the Mayor to enter into a <br />contract with the lowest and best bidder to purchase said stone, after Board of Control <br />approval, and declaring an emergency. <br />Resolution No. 2006-88 was introduced and placed on first reading by Mayor O'Grady. <br />A resolution authorizing the Director of Public Service to advertise for bids for the <br />purchase of 5,000 tons of asphalt, tack coating and related items for various Service <br />Department needs throughout the city as detailed in the specifications on file, further <br />authorizing the Mayor to enter into a contract with the lowest and best bidder to purchase <br />said asphalt, tack coating and related items, after Board of Control approval, and <br />declaring an emergency. <br />Resolution No. 2006-89 was introduced and placed on first reading by Mayor O'Grady. <br />A resolution authorizing the Director of Public Service to advertise for bids for the <br />purchase of a 200 Kilowatt back-up generator for the Police Station as detailed in the <br />specifications on file and further authorizing the Mayor to enter into a contract with the <br />lowest and best bidder to purchase said equipment, after Board of Control approval. <br />Councilman Miller moved for suspension of the rules rewiring three readings and formal <br />committee review. The motion was seconded by Councilman Ryan and passed <br />unanimously. Councilman Miller moved for adoption. The motion was seconded by <br />Councilman Ryan and passed unanimously. Resolution No. 2006-89 adopted. <br />Resolution No. 2006-90 was introduced and placed on first reading by Mayor O'Grady. <br />A resolution authorizing the Director of Public Service to advertise for bids for the <br />purchase of three (3) Ford F-550's as detailed in the specifications on file, further <br />authorizing the Mayor to enter into a contract with the lowest and bes# bidder for said <br />vehicles, after Board of Control approval, and declaring an emergency. Councilman <br />Barker moved for suspension of the rules requiring three readings and formal committee <br />review, and the motion was seconded by Council Member Dailey Jones. Roll call: <br />Barker, yes; Dailey Jones, yes; Gareau, no; Tallon, yes; Ryan, yes; Orlowski, yes; Miller, <br />no commenting that, had the count been different, he probably would have voted yes to <br />assure that it would pass. He voted no to make a point that we need to get these things in <br />more timely. He would not have voted no if he felt it would hold up the progress on this. <br />The motion passed with five yes votes and two no votes. Councilman Barker moved for <br />adoption, and the motion was seconded by Council Member Dailey Jones. Roll call: <br />Barker, yes; Dailey Jones, yes; Ryan, yes with comment addressed to the Mayor. The <br />city vehicles are on the road quite a lot of time and use a lot of gas; and he is hopeful in <br />the future, when considering purchases of vehicles, that we consider the gas usage and <br />perhaps look at an alternate source. Roll call continued: Miller, yes; Tallon, yes; <br />Orlowski, yes; Gareau, yes. The motion passed unanimously. Resolution No. 2006-90 <br />adopted. <br /> <br />15 <br />
