Council Minutes of 4/18/2006
a, Y, Councilman Barker said he did not think Mrs. Novak expected the tape to be used to
{- track down the people who are going around the signs. She just wanted the
administration to be aware of what was going on. Mrs. Novak agreed. Mr. Barker said
recently he watched a pickup truck come up Claque, go azound the barricade, drive
through construction people and equipment, turn onto Esther where barrels had been
placed, and go across a tree lawn and proceed into Fairview Park. These are things
residents on Esther seeing an experiencing everyday. When we had a police officer at the
ramp during certain hours, people pulled away. As soon as the police leave, traffic starts
coming up Claque and going down Esther. It is frustrating the residents. He is asking the
administration to make sure the signs are good. We need to stay on top of it because he
thinks MacBeth and Esther are going to see another traffic pattern, that is pimple cutting
down Claque and cutting through to Fairview Pazk. That's why Mrs. Novak is here
tonight and why we need to stay on top of this when we change direction in the next
couple of weeks.
Mayor O'Grady thanked Mr. Barker for his comments. The administration is very aware
of what's going on there, and the Service Director and Safety Director are in the area
regularly. The city provides enforcement as often as possible. He will view the tape if
that is what Mrs. Novak wants and will hold off forwarding it to the Police. However, he
understands that a Fairview Park school bus went through there. At the minimum, he
will make a call and look into that. The city cannot provide 24-hour law enforcement
there. People will violate the rules. We will do everything reasonable to make sure
we're looking out for the welfare and safety of our citizens
Dennis Lambert, 25057 Carey Lane, said he had earlier made a statement in public
session.
