Council Minutes of 12/18/2007 <br />Tallon, Sr. has used his God-given abilities and talents to help the residents of the City of <br />North Olmsted; and the City Council, on behalf of the Mayor, administration, and all the <br />residents of the city, honors his public service. Mr. Tallon was congratulated by all <br />members of Council, the administration, and all who were present. Mr. Tallon said it had <br />been an honor serving the city over these many years. He thanked his colleagues for all <br />their help and support, and he thanked his family, especially his wife Karen, for their help <br />and support. No person can do this job alone-he has had the support of his family, his <br />colleagues, and members of several administrations. All members of Council individually <br />paid tribute to Mr. Tallon and thanked him for his friendship, guidance and leadership <br />while serving on City Council and the Planning Commission. The community has <br />benefited from his public service, and he will be missed. <br />Council Member Jones made a motion that Council go into executive session to discuss <br />the fact-finding award regarding the fire fighters' contract. The motion was seconded by <br />Councilman Gareau. Roll call: Jones, yes; Gareau, yes; Barker, yes; Orlowski, yes; <br />Tallon, yes; Ryan, no. The motion passed with five yes votes and one no vote. Council <br />adjourned into executive session at 8:20 p.m. <br />Council reconvened at 8:43 p.m. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor O'Grady: 1) To all, very best wishes for the holidays and for the coming new <br />year. <br />2) As Council bids farewell to two of their members, his administration bids farewell to <br />one of our long-time employees and friends, Assistant City Engineer Cathy Becker. <br />Cathy has accepted a position in her home city of North Ridgeville and we wish her the <br />very best as she goes to join another former North Olmsted employee, North Ridgeville <br />City Engineer Larry Griffith. <br />3) Through partnership of Cuyahoga County Dept. of Development and the County <br />Board of Health, residents over age of 62 may be eligible for the senior Home Safety <br />Grant Program. This program allows qualified residents to have their home equipped to <br />make it safe for senior living. To apply, please call Tiffany Hunt at the Senior Center <br />4) Tickets are going fast for annual New Year's Eve celebration at Springvale. Please <br />contact Springvale for information. <br />5) The Senior Center holiday celebration will be held on December 20 with a hot lunch <br />served. There will be a free hearing screening from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., by appointment <br />only. The Senior Center New Year's Eve party will be held on December 27 with a 20's <br />ragtime theme and a hot lunch. As always, all elected officials are welcome to attend. <br />6) The annual employees' appreciation holiday celebration will be held at Springvale <br />tomorrow from 10:45 a.m. until 2 p.m. All elected officials are welcome to attend. <br />7) James Goetz, a new corrections officer for the city, will be starting tomorrow. <br />8) Cultural Activities Commission will be hosting atwo-day holiday event on December <br />26 and 27 on Old Town Hall beginning at 7 p.m. each day. There will be children's <br />games, a puppet show, live music, refreshments and more. <br />2 <br />
