Council Minutes of 11/20/2007
4) For the past two Saturdays, over 65 yards were raked by local Scout troops, school and
community organizations, and many volunteers. Thanks to Todd Musial for organizing
the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts. We hope to do even more next year.
5) Mr. Ron Wagner will be retiring from the Service Dept. at the end of this month. Ron
has been employed with the city since 1973, and we are very grateful for his good
service.
6) VFW Officer of the Year dinner and award ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday,
November 28, at our Community Cabin. The honorees this year will be police officer
Ken Vagase and firefighter Jim Weir.
7) Welcome to the North Olmsted family-electrical inspector Neal Dorenkott and
plumbing inspector Dennis Gareau who will soon begin work.
8) Concrete was poured last Tuesday and Friday on Stearns Road. We are very grateful to
see some substantial progress on that road. It is not the intent of the contractor at this
time to remove the existing temporary road until the spring because of the concern over
soil erosion due to the rains and the snow.
9) Repairs on Great Northern Blvd. are complete from last month's water line break.
10) We have received and equipped the new F250 and 4-wheel Chevy 550 trucks. Both
are set up and ready to go for snow plowing.
11) The trash pick-up service bid is available to any vendor. The bid opening will be on
November 30 at Noon. What we are sending forward is a three year contract with two
optional years at the end.
Councilman Barker noted that the repairs on Lorain Road near the Crocker-Stearns
project have been poorly done. Mayor O'Grady and Service Director Limpert agreed.
Mr. Limpert said this had been brought to the attention of the County and the contractor,
and they were asked to get this repaired before winter sets in.
Council Member Dailey Jones expressed her thanks to Service Director Limpert for his
help so she could assure the Stearns Road residents they would have access to their
driveways or at least to the street in front of their homes for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Mayor O'Grady thanked Councilwoman Jones for her leadership on this project and for
looking out for the welfare of our citizens. The city has done much to increase police
patrols in the Bretton Ridge development and also along Stearns Road. We have
coordinated trash pick up in the Stearns area, and the North Olmsted Paratransit drivers
are providing assistance to residents who need to cross the road to the vans.
Law Director Dubelko: 1 } An update on Suburban Collision matter: He spoke with the
attorney for Suburban today, and they are in the process of scheduling another meeting in
early December to see where our respective experts are on the subject of trying to
globally solve the odor problem at that location.
2) Regarding the Elm Street properties case, the trial date had been bumped into 2008.
Plaintiff is in the process of seeking leave to amend its complaint due to its severance of a
business relationship with the property owner.
3) Laser Wash issues about the compliance with approved plans-we have filed
complaints against the owner in Rocky River Court for those unauthorized deviations
from the approved plans, specifically the landscaping that was required near the building.
2
