A monument to WWII veterans will be rededicated to include a title. <br />6) The North Olmsted Middle School Cross Country Team held a running fundraiser to <br />help out seniors and less fortunate residents in our city. Through their efforts, $1,100 was <br />raised. <br />7) The city recently had amake-a-difference day to benefit the emergency food cupboard. <br />In addition to food items donated, a gift basket was raffled off to raise an additional $350 <br />for the needy. <br />8) This Thanksgiving, the Dept. of Community Life Services in conjunction with local <br />car dealerships, businesses, schools and community organizations is putting together <br />Thanksgiving meals for North Olmsted families. The car dealers are donating the turkeys <br />and many others are providing the trimmings. If anyone would wish to donate or knows <br />of a family in need, please contact the CLS Director. <br />9) The Recreation Center currently has an on-line survey on the city website. Everyone <br />is encouraged to fill out the survey to let us know what we are doing right and what we <br />need to do better. <br />10) At the Senior Center on November 15, there will be a free osteoporosis screening <br />from 9 to 11:30 from the Visiting Nurses Association. On November 29, there will be <br />free blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol screenings. Medicare open enrollment <br />begins on November 15 and runs through December 31. For more information, contact <br />the Senior Center. <br />11) The city has renewed the contract with Jackson, Dieken & Associates for general <br />liability insurance. <br />12) Parties interested in purchasing former Fire Station No. 2 are invited to submit a letter <br />of interest to the city by November 16. Contact Planning Director Wenger with <br />questions. <br />13) The North Olmsted branch library improvement project kicked off yesterday with a <br />meeting with RCU Architects led by Julia Jacobs. <br />14) Stearns Road between I-480 and Lorain will be closed in both directions on Monday, <br />November 12, and Thursday, November 15, for paving on those east side lanes. Detour <br />signs will be posted and only local traffic will be permitted. <br />15) Division of Youth Services is hosting a matinee performance of Beauty and the Beast <br />at the Beck Center on Sunday, December 9, at 3 p.m. Proceeds from ticket sales go to <br />Division of Youth Services. Contact Chris Allegra for information. <br />16) Formal application for licensure of Glow Teen Club, 29047 Lorain Road, has been <br />received by the city. The application is being reviewed by the Police Department and, <br />according to city statute, a 20 day review is permitted. The Building Dept. inspection has <br />not been scheduled at this time. <br />17) Regarding the property at 6044 Gareau Drive, a formal cease and desist order was <br />issued by the Building Dept. on October 12. Follow-up inspection occurred on the <br />October 19. Indications are that the owner of the house is in compliance and that business <br />is not being conducted there. <br />2 <br />
