At the request of the applicant and his attorney, a brief recess was taken.
After the recess, they asked that the matter be held in committee so they could
evaluate some of the comments from the committee, hopefully to modify the
project and move it along. At the request of Mr. Slagter and his client, Dr.
Walters, the committee unanimously voted to hold the matter in committee. A
meeting will be scheduled for next Tuesday. Questions were
asked and answered during his presentation. Mr. John Lasko made a motion to accept the
Recreation Master Plan with the following modifications: exclude exhibits 2, 3, and 4
from the exhibits that were presented that evening; remove the 3 pages and modify page
28 in the Master Plan booklet to include a bullet point to provide for the retention of the
skate park. The Master Plan has some renditions of ideas that may or may not take place.
The motion was seconded by Mr. Barker and unanimously passed.
2) Recreation Commission met again on August 6, 2007. Agenda items included:
• The termination of a contract with Sports Venue Advertising. Sports Venue had
promised $30,000 to $40,000 per year for board advertising at the ice rink. The commission voted 4-0 to
terminate this contract which is covered by Resolution 2007-85, which is on
tonight's agenda.
• The renewal contract for Karrie Skall Tipton, gymnastics instructor. This will be
introduced tonight as Ordinance 2007-91. The commission voted 4-0 to approve
the new contract.
• The resignation of Ms. Anna Kanis. Ms. Kanis has moved to North Ridgeville,
and by Charter may not serve on the Recreation Commission. Ms. Kanis resigns
with sadness, but has offered to help at anytime.
