Council Minutes of 6/5/2007 <br />Councilman-at-Large <br />President of Council <br />Boy Scout co-Mayor <br />Girl Scout co-Mayor <br /> <br />Eric J. Moizuk, Troop 332 <br />Stevie Linden, Troop 713 <br />Robert Damm, Troop 630 <br />Joy DeMarco, Troop 409 <br />Wayne Palascak, Mr. Scouting for 2007, was introduced. Mayor O'Grady asked Mr. <br />Palascak to come forward, and he was congratulated by all of Council and members of <br />the administration. Mayor O'Grady presented a proclamation to Mr. Palascak in honor of <br />his outstanding achievements and dedicated service to Scouting and to the community. <br />Mrs. Laura Williams, Mrs. Scouting far 2007, was introduced. Mayor O'Grady asked <br />Mrs. Williams to come forward, and she was congratulated by all of Council and <br />members of the administration. Mayor O'Grady presented a proclamation to Mrs. <br />Williams in honor of her outstanding achievements and dedicated service to Scouting and <br />to the community. <br />Mr. & Mrs. Scouting and the 2007 Scout Honorary Officials were congratulated and <br />recognized by all who were present. <br />REPS <br />Mayor O'Grady: 1) He is very sorry to announce that Building Department employee <br />Jim Tousley passed away yesterday. He was a valued member of this administration, and <br />he fought a valiant fight against cancer. Jim will be waked at Marten's Funeral Home <br />Wednesday and Thursday, with a funeral Mass on Friday at Saint Brendan's Church. <br />Please remember Jim, his wife Beth, and their family in your prayers. <br />2) As we mourn yet another life lost to cancer, we invite all to join us with our first ever <br />Fairview Park -North Olmsted Relay for Life. This event benefits the American Cancer <br />Society, and any who wish to participate can contact Director Dailey at 716-4164 or <br />North Olmsted Chairperson Melissa Meredith at 777-7111. We continue to seek <br />sponsors, volunteers, and teams to walk in this event on June 23rd and 24th. <br />3) Our Memorial Day observances went very well. Thanks to all who joined us. Special <br />thanks to the North Olmsted VFW and to our Service Department for their efforts. <br />4) He attended a Congressional field hearing on foreclosures last week, and our <br />administration continues with efforts to protect the value of our housing stock in North <br />Olmsted. <br />5) He will speak at the Flag Day ceremonies in Cleveland next week, and will also be <br />attending the Change of Command ceremony for the US Army Recruiting Command. <br />6) Departments: <br />Community Life Services <br />This past Thursday we recognized our Senior Volunteers in North Olmsted. We <br />celebrated the achievement of 72 volunteers as they gave back over 4000 hours to the <br />community. Our top volunteer was Marge Violi who logged over 431 hours. <br />Human Resources <br />The Assistant Fire Chief's oral assessment was conducted on June 2. The results will be <br />in soon, and the announcement of those results will follow at our next Civil Service <br />meeting. <br />2 <br />
