Council Minutes of 2/7/2007

transport. It is also believed that it could be downloaded to our network system.
The microphones will have a mute button, and the President will have a control
panel for those microphones. The Council Chambers will also get new speakers.
This will cost approximately $33,000 to $40,000. The new Caucus room will
receive astand-alone system that will also be solid state with flash card
capabilities. There will be microphones for the recarding purpose, and it was
suggested by Mr. Gareau and a resident that speakers also be installed in that
room. There are at times where in our present Caucus room, all discussion cannot
be heard. That is expected to cost around $3,000 for a total cost of $36,000 to
$43,000. In last year's budget hearings, $30,000 was set aside for this expense,
with interest we now have approximately $31,074. Further discussion was had
regarding storage and loading the recorded meetings to the City website. There
may be a capacity problem, and it is felt that the Records Retention Committee
would be looking into that. It was also discussed about hardware or peripheral to
help in the transcribing of meetings to minutes for the Clerks of Council and
Boards and Commissions. It was agreed to include that with the specifications.
Mrs. Dailey Jones asked if video was in this resolution. The answer was no. But
this system could easily have video and projection, which is a suggestion by Ms.
Wenger, to help facilitate Planning and Design meetings added to the system in
the future at an additional cost. Mrs. Dailey Jones hoped that this could be looked
into as far as cost and brought to Council in the near future. With no other
discussion, the committee unanimously recommended approval of Resolution
2007-07. On January 30, 2007, committee members received some additional
information regarding the legislation. The administration and Planning Director
Wenger have requested the resolution be brought back into committee for further
discussion. The additional information has to do with adding video and
projection. Councilman Barker made a motion to bring back Resolution 2007-7
into committee. The motion was seconded by Council Member Dailey Jones and
passed unanimously.
2) The Recreation Commission met Monday, February 5. The meeting began with the
swearing in of Mr. Chris Scarl, City Council's representative, and Mr. Terry Groden, the
representative of the School Board. Then there were nominations for Chair and Vice
Chair of the Commission. Anna Kanis is the new Chairperson, and John Lasko is the
Vice-Chair for the Commission this year. The revenue report for January is up in all
categories except tennis, and there doesn't seem to be any worries about that. The DJ
skate night is up $ 3,267.00 over last year. The Recreation program supervisors are
participating in the Ohio Parks and Recreation Association Cleveland meeting this week.
The department is working on the budget proposal, and Finance Director Carrie Copfer
has been invited to give the new Commission a finance 101 presentation in the near
future.
Council Member Dailey Jones, chairperson of the Streets & Transportation Committee:
1) The committee met on Tuesday, January 23, 2007. Present were committee members
Jones and Barker; Council Members Gareau and Orlowski; Service Director Limpert,
City Engineer Collins, and. Planning Director Wenger.
