Council Minutes of 6!3/2008 <br />Resolution No. 2008-78 introduced by Mayor O'Grady was given its second reading. A <br />resolution authorizing the Director of Planning to proceed with negotiations for the sale <br />of city-owned real property located on Butternut Ridge Road, identified as Permanent <br />Parcel Number 236-19-005 and consisting of a vacant lot zoned for residential use; <br />further authorizing the Mayor to enter into a contract to sell the real property; and <br />declaring an emergency as amended. Councilman Gareau moved for suspension of the <br />rule requiring three readings noting it had been heazd in committee, and the reason for <br />suspension being that we seek to proceed with the sale with an interested buyer at this <br />time. The motion was seconded by Councilman Barker and passed unanimously. <br />Councilman Gazeau moved for adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilman <br />Barker and passed unanimously. Resolution No. 2008-78 adopted. <br />Resolution No. 2008-79 introduced by Mayor O'Grady was given its second reading. A <br />resolution authorizing the Chief of Police to apply for Law Enforcement Grant funds <br />from the State of Ohio for Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) for fiscal 2008- <br />2009 and, if the application is granted further authorizing the Mayor to enter into an <br />agreement with the State of Ohio, or the appropriate State of Ohio law enforcement <br />agency, to accept said grant funding on behalf of the city, and declaring an emergency. <br />Councilman Mahoney moved for suspension of the rule requiring three readings noting <br />that Resolution 2008-79 has been heard in committee and reported out by Mr. Orlowski. <br />As indicated in caucus, the Mayor indicates there is no reason to not move this forward <br />on suspension in keeping with his good government principles. The motion was <br />seconded by Councilman Barker and passed unanimously. Councilman Mahoney moved <br />for adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilman Barker and passed unanimously. <br />Resolution No. 2008-79 adopted. <br />Resolution No. 2008-80 introduced by Mayor O'Grady was given its second reading. A <br />resolution extending for an additional one year period the city's contract with Silverlode <br />Consulting Corp. for the purpose of providing economic development consulting services <br />to the city, and declaring an emergency. Councilman Gazeau moved for suspension of <br />the rule requiring three readings noting it had been heard in committee, and the basis for <br />suspension is the fact that the contract is set to expire and we wish to continue it. The <br />motion was seconded by Councilman Barker and passed unanimously. Councilman <br />Gareau moved for adoption, and the motion was seconded by Councilman Barker. Roll <br />call: Gareau, yes; Barker, yes; Orlowski, yes; Mahoney, yes; Jones, yes; Ryan, yes with <br />comment that it was noted in the Plain Dealer this morning that we've lost another 82 <br />jobs out of North Olmsted. GMAC is moving out of the city. Obviously, we've got to <br />start doing something. The motion passed unanimously. Resolution No. 2008-80 <br />adopted. <br />Ordinance No. 2008-82 introduced by Mayor O'Grady was given its second reading. An <br />ordinance amending Sections 1701.01, 1701.04, 1701.10, and 1701.13 of Chapter 1701 <br />(Fire Code) of the Fire Prevention Code in order to incorporate changes in the Ohio Fire <br />Code, specifically for certification of fire safety inspectors and contractors, and to add <br />fees for fire safety inspections. <br />14 <br />_~~~~,~~ <br />
