Council Minutes of 4/1/2008 LEGISLATION Ordinance No. 2008-6 introduced by Mayor O'Grady was given its third reading. An ordinance amending Chapter 1163 (Signs) of the Zoning Code in order to provide new regulations for temporary signs as amended. Councilman Barker moved for adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilman Mahoney and passed unanimously. Ordinance No. 2008-6 adopted. Resolution No. 2008-23 introduced by Mayor O'Grady was given its second reading. A resolution endorsing fair employment practices in Northern Ireland, known as The MacBride Principles, and urging adoption thereof by the State of Ohio in appropriate State statutes, as amended. Resolution No. 2008-41 introduced by Mayor O'Grady was given its second reading. A resolution urging the Governor and General Assembly to fill the financial gap created by the Federal G. I. Bill education benefit for all Ohio U. S. military veterans, and declaring an emergency as amended. Resolution No. 2008-42 introduced by Councilman Orlowski was given its second reading. A resolution to support Single Payer Action Network Ohio as amended. Resolution No. 2008-46 was introduced and placed on first reading by Mayor O'Grady. A resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into, on behalf of the City of North Olmsted, and to certify adoption of a Joint Economic Development Zone (JEDZ) Agreement with the City of Avon, Ohio. Resolution No. 2008-47 was introduced and placed on first reading by Mayor O'Grady. A resolution urging the United States Senate of the 110th United States Congress to pass HR 569 entitled The Water Quality Investment Act of 2007 and declaring an emergency. Resolution No. 2008-48 was introduced and placed on first reading by Mayor O'Grady. A resolution authorizing the Chief of Police to apply for up to $4,000 from the Bureau of Justice Assistance for the purpose of purchasing bullet proof vests for police officers, and further authorizing the Mayor to accept the grant, if awarded, and to execute all documents necessary to effectuate receipt of the grant, and declaring an emergency. Councilman Kearney moved for suspension of the rules requiring three readings and committee review. The motion was seconded by Councilman Gareau and passed unanimously. An ordinance establishing rates of compensation for various administrative and legislative personnel for the year 2008. Resolution No. 2008-50 was introduced and placed on first reading by Mayor O'Grady. A resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with Cuyahoga Community College and Steve Walters, D. D. S., for the purpose of conducting a live burn training exercise at 4780 Clague Road, North Olmsted, Ohio, and declaring an emergency.
