<br />Council Minutes of 4/1/2008 <br />LEGISLATION <br />Ordinance No. 2008-6 introduced by Mayor O'Grady was given its third reading. An ordinance <br />amending Chapter 1163 (Signs) of the Zoning Code in order to provide new regulations for <br />temporary signs as amended. Councilman Barker moved for adoption. The motion was <br />seconded by Councilman Mahoney and passed unanimously. Ordinance No. 2008-6 adopted. <br />Resolution No. 2008-23 introduced by Mayor O'Grady was given its second reading. A <br />resolution endorsing fair employment practices in Northern Ireland, known as The MacBride <br />Principles, and urging adoption thereof by the State of Ohio in appropriate State statutes, as <br />amended. <br />Resolution No. 2008-41 introduced by Mayor O'Grady was given its second reading. A <br />resolution urging the Governor and General Assembly to fill the financial gap created by the <br />Federal G. I. Bill education benefit for all Ohio U. S. military veterans, and declaring an <br />emergency as amended. <br />Resolution No. 2008-42 introduced by Councilman Orlowski was given its second reading. A <br />resolution to support Single Payer Action Network Ohio as amended. <br />Resolution No. 2008-46 was introduced and placed on first reading by Mayor O'Grady. A <br />resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into, on behalf of the City of North Olmsted, and to <br />certify adoption of a Joint Economic Development Zone (JEDZ) Agreement with the City of <br />Avon, Ohio. <br />Resolution No. 2008-47 was introduced and placed on first reading by Mayor O'Grady. A <br />resolution urging the United States Senate of the 110th United States Congress to pass HR 569 <br />entitled The Water Quality Investment Act of 2007 and declaring an emergency. <br />Resolution No. 2008-48 was introduced and placed on first reading by Mayor O'Grady. A <br />resolution authorizing the Chief of Police to apply for up to $4,000 from the Bureau of Justice <br />Assistance for the purpose of purchasing bullet proof vests for police officers, and further <br />authorizing the Mayor to accept the grant, if awarded, and to execute all documents necessary to <br />effectuate receipt of the grant, and declaring an emergency. Councilman Kearney moved for <br />suspension of the rules requiring three readings and committee review. The motion was <br />seconded by Councilman Gareau and passed unanimously. An <br />ordinance establishing rates of compensation for various administrative and legislative personnel <br />for the year 2008. <br />Resolution No. 2008-50 was introduced and placed on first reading by Mayor O'Grady. A <br />resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with Cuyahoga Community College <br />and Steve Walters, D. D. S., for the purpose of conducting a live burn training exercise at 4780 <br />Clague Road, North Olmsted, Ohio, and declaring an emergency. Councilman Kearney moved <br />for suspension of the rules requiring three readings and committee review, and the motion was <br />seconded by Councilman Gareau.
