Resolution <br />No. 2008-35 adopted. <br />Resolution No. 2008-38 introduced by Mayor O'Grady was given its second reading. A <br />resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with Senior Transportation <br />Connection (STC) for the provision of motor fuels used in the operation of transit bus <br />services. Councilman Gareau moved for suspension of the rule requiring three readings <br />for the reason this is a continued provision of services to the elderly and disabled within <br />our community. The motion was seconded by councilman Barker and passed <br />unanimously. Councilman Gareau moved for adoption. The motion was seconded by <br />Councilman Barker and passed unanimously. Resolution No. 2008-38 adopted. <br />Resolution No. 2008-39 was introduced and placed on first reading by Mayor O'Grady <br />who noted the legislation had been discussed during caucus. A resolution supporting <br />House Bill 320 requiring booster seats for children too small for safety belts. Council <br />Member Dailey Jones moved for suspension of the rules requiring three readings and <br />committee review. The motion was seconded by Councilman Gareau and passed <br />unanimously. Dennis Lambert, 25057 Carey Lane asked: Does that mean, if there is a <br />young man who happens to be physically handicapped, and because he's extremely short <br />and maybe 16 years old, he'll be required to sit in a booster seat under this rule? Mayor <br />O'Grady said no, he didn't think this legislation is going to come out and find some adult <br />somewhere and require them to be in a booster seat unless required for medical reasons. <br />That would not be a part of this. Council Member Dailey Jones moved for adoption, and <br />the motion was seconded by Councilman Gareau. Roll call: Jones, yes; Gareau, yes; <br />Kearney, yes; Mahoney, yes; Ryan, no; Orlowski, yes; Barker, yes. The motion passed <br />with six yes votes and one no vote. A resolution proclaiming April as Fair Housing Month in North Olmsted, <br />Ohio. Council Member Dailey Jones moved for suspension of the rules requiring three <br />readings and committee review for the reasons stated during caucus. The motion was <br />seconded by Councilman Gareau and passed unanimously. Terry Groden, 25211 Chase <br />Drive, asked if this legislation should be called Fair Housing Awareness Month? <br />Because, if not, would that imply that tl~e other 11 months are unfair housing months? <br />Council Member Dailey Jones explained we are using the language that the Dept. of <br />Housing and Urban Development uses when they announce that April is Fair Housing <br />Month for the United States. Council Member Dailey Jones moved for adoption, and the <br />motion was seconded by Councilman Gareau.
