Council Minutes of 1/15/2008

Council Members Kearney, Mahoney and Orlowski; Planning Director Wenger and
guests. Agenda items:
M1 Motors located at 28300 Lorain Road. This proposal consists of facade
renovations to the existing building and site improvements to accommodate auto
sales for Mercedes and Porsche during the renovations of their existing site. The
shake shingle roof will be removed and the building face will be covered with a
metal panel (to mimic the Porsche dealership) which will wrap around a portion
of the sides of the building. The remainder of the block building will be painted
to match the metal panels as weather permits. The front landscaping area will
include an irrigation system and will coincide in plant selection and design for the
approved Mercedes/Porsche proposal. There will be landscaping at the rear of the
building and a 6-foot high white PVC material fence along the rear property line
for screening. Anew split face block dumpster enclosure is proposed behind the
building. Two wall signs are proposed and the existing ground sign will be
removed. The applicant obtained variances for a number of wall signs and height
of one wall sign. They will also repair the parking lot, seal and stripe it as weather
allows. Mr. David Mann of Mann Architects presented blueprints and pictures of
the new project. Council Member Jones congratulated M1 motors for their effort
in improving a building that will be a temporary use facility. Mr. John Dodovich
from Welty Building, who will be doing the renovations, commented on what a
pleasure it is working with Miss Wenger and the Building Dept. The committee
unanimously recommended approval of the project to Council. Councilman
Barker moved to approve the Ml Motors proposal located at 28300 Lorain Rd.
consisting of building facade renovations to the existing building, site
improvements and new landscaping, subject to the recommendations of the
Planning & Design Commission. The motion was seconded by Council Member
Jones and passed unanimously.
Bluestar recycling collection, a business located in Lorain Ohio. Mr. Bill Ivancic
gave the presentation on how they would like to open up a recycling collection
center in North Olmsted. This would be a recycling collection center where
residents can bring in metals for cash and Bluestar would collect those products
and then transport them to their Lorain location. They presented an overview of
how the business operates and how they would improve an existing site if the plan
moves forward. It was an interesting proposal which will be re-visited in the
future.
• Resolution 2007-153, a resolution adopting the digital map created by the City
Engineer as the official zoning map of the City of North Olmsted. This replaces a
paper plot map with an overlay to show the different zoning in our city. This
digital map will be available on a PDF file for all of the employees and the
residents to use. Councilman Orlowski asked if a large copy could be put up in the
caucus room. The committee unanimously recommended approval to Council.
Suspension was requested.
The committee was adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
7
