Council Minutes of 71-17-2009 <br />David Taricska <br />The Mayor congratulated the new graduates and offered them his personal thanks. He <br />read the certificate presented to them: On behalf of our entire community, I do here <br />recognize with honor all of the names of the previously named individuals for embracing <br />the principle of preparedness and the volunteer spirit by completing training for the city <br />of North Olmsted Community Emergency Response Team. By your actions, you are <br />enhancing local emergency response, community safety, and disaster relief for which <br />your community is extremely grateful. <br />APPLAUSE <br />Mayor O'Grady recognized Tricia Granfors, the secretary in the Planning Department. <br />She is also the CERT Coordinator. <br />APPLAUSE <br />2) The Veterans Day ceremony was a great success. He thanked everyone involved as <br />well as his Administrative Assistant, Annie Kilbane, who helps coordinate the event. <br />3) The annual Police Officer and Firefighter of the Year dinner will be held tomorrow at <br />the Community Cabin. Congratulations to Officer John Downs and to Firefighter Brian <br />Shlapack. <br />4) The Community Council Presidents Dinner will be held Thursday at the Community <br />Cabin. <br />5) The FOP and AFSCME labor contracts have been signed and are now filed with <br />SERB. Tom Herbster has resigned as President of the AFSCME local, and Greg Peters <br />has been elected to finish his unexpired term. <br />6) City staff met today with NOACA staff to discuss North Olmsted participation in the <br />LINKS Program for the study of two intersections in the city -the Lorain and Brookpark <br />intersection and the Lorain-Porter-Butternut intersection. <br />7) The pre-bid meeting for the North Olmsted Senior Center and campus American with <br />Disabilities Act improvement project will be held this Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Senior <br />Center. Bids are due by Friday, December 4. <br />8) The H 1 N 1 mass vaccination clinic held this past Sunday at Olmsted Falls Middle <br />School was a great success with nearly four thousand doses of vaccine being distributed. <br />The clinic was sponsored by the Cuyahoga County Board of Health and made operational <br />by the Olmsted Falls and Olmsted Township Fire Departments and Police Department. <br />Thank you to Safety Director, Lisa Thomas; Fire Chief, Tom Klecan; and CERT <br />coordinator, Tricia Granfors, for their role in ensuring that this past weekend was such a <br />success. The Board of Health has asked the city of North Olmsted to activate its own <br />POD on Saturday for a half day clinic beginning at 9 a.m. H1N1 will be dispensed only <br />to those who are in the at risk population. The location is North Olmsted Middle School. <br />Please register in advance to take advantage of that inoculation. <br />9) The city is doing curb repair on Country Club Boulevard across from Great Northern <br />Mall. <br />10) The annual leaf pick up continues in all of our neighborhoods. <br />2 <br /> <br />
