Council Minutes of 10-20-2009 <br /> <br />Deferred Compensation, Firefighter Community Credit Union, and the United Telephone <br />Credit Union. <br />4) The city and schools are working together on a great initiative that promotes recycling <br />and supports the city's Food Cupboard. Reusable grocery bags were designed by High <br />School SITES students and purchased with grant funds from the Cuyahoga County Solid <br />Waste District. The kick-off for the annual "Make a Difference Day" will be on Friday, <br />October 23`d with bag distribution and short assemblies given by the SITES students in <br />grades K-8. On October 24`t', through a partnership with Marc's and Giant Eagle in <br />North Olmsted, when these bags. that have been distributed to our schools are taken into <br />the stores and used for shopping, the stores wilt donate food items to our North Olmsted <br />Food Cupboard. It's a great initiative and our complements to Planning Director, Kim <br />Wenger. <br />5) North Olmsted Paramedics were provided H1N1 vaccinations by the Cuyahoga <br />County Board of Health. Vaccinations were administered in Rocky River and most of <br />the staff took advantage of the free inoculations. H1N1 is present within area school <br />systems and is being felt around our community. H1N1 symptoms go beyond seasonal <br />flu symptoms to include high fever, a cough or sore throat, and difficulty with breathing. <br />6) Following a meeting with the Safety Director, Police Chief, and Animal Warden, a <br />process to incorporate animal complaints into the nuisance property database has been <br />established. <br />7) Preparations are underway for the Friday October 23`d meeting with ESCI regarding <br />the fire district study. A copy of the schedule has been electronically sent to members of <br />Council. Council members who have not responded to the invitation are welcome to do <br />so, and are encouraged to contact the Safety Director and participate and provide input. <br />8) The Annual Leave pick-up will begin on Monday, October 26. The first zone will be <br />Ward 3, followed by Wards 4, 1, and 2. Three passes will be made, ending the second <br />week in December. <br />9) The. Waste Water Plant centrifuge has been sent for repairs and is expected to be back <br />online by the end of the week. In the meantime, the crew led by Service Director <br />Limpert, is doing a great job in handling the issue. <br />10) Crack sealing will be completed by the end of the week, weather permitting. <br />Law Director Dubelko: 1) The case of Bertalan vs. Stotz, et al, is a personal injury case <br />involving a NOCOP vehicle. The city's insurance defense counsel filed an answer in that <br />case. In the case of The City of North Olmsted vs. Vivianni, a real property maintenance <br />case in Rocky River Court, a plea was taken on several counts and it involves the <br />property at the corner of Stearns and Lorain Road. The matter has been referred for a <br />presentencing report. All indications are that the defendant, in order to get a favorable <br />sentencing in December, is expected to bring the property in compliance with the code by <br />what he believes is December 12. <br />Finance Director Copfer: 1) At the last Council meeting, she forgot to mention that the <br />annual information filing required by the bond continuing disclosure requirements was <br />filed on September 24, 2009. <br />2 <br />
