Council Minutes of 9-15-2009 <br />Councilman Gareau made a motion to amend the agenda to add Ordinance 2009-115 on <br />first reading. The motion was seconded by Councilwoman Dailey Jones and passed <br />unanimously. Ordinance 2009-115 was placed on first reading. <br />Resolution 2009-115 introduced by Councilman Gareau on behalf of all of the members <br />of Council and the Mayor was placed on first reading. A resolution to honor and <br />recognize the accomplishments of Clerk of Council Barbara L. Seman. Councilman <br />Gareau made a motion to suspend the rules requiring three readings and committee <br />review. The motion was seconded by Councilwoman Dailey Jones and passed <br />unanimously. Councilman Gareau made a motion to adopt Resolution 2009-115. The <br />motion was seconded by Councilwoman Dailey Jones and passed unanimously. <br />Resolution 2009-115 adopted. <br />Councilman Gareau pointed out a number of friends, former Council members, and <br />family members of Mrs. Seman that attended this evening. He asked Mrs. Seman's son, <br />Craig, to come forward and introduce the family. Craig Seman introduced Barb Seman's <br />brother-in-law, Denny; Barb's husband, Fred; Barb's niece, Karly; Barb's sister, Carole; <br />and his lovely wife, Julia. <br />Councilman Gareau read Resolution 2009-115 in its entirety, and asked Mrs. Seman if <br />she would like to say anything. <br />Mrs. Seman said she loved this job from the day she started, and continues to love it. She <br />has worked with wonderful people, some of whom are no longer with us. Jim Boehmer <br />was terrific. He taught her so much. He came to see her everyday. He taught her how to <br />be a Clerk; taught her about politics, government, people. He was a good, good man. <br />Carolyn, who's in her heart. Jim Leonard and all of you who are here, she can say that <br />she's always loved everyone of you. You always treated her wonderfully. It's the best <br />job in the world. She's glad to have had it for so many years. It came to her at a time in <br />her life when she really, really needed it. She's sorry to leave it. Thank you very much. <br />Councilman Gareau recognized prior members of Council that were in attendance: Mr. <br />Paul Miller, former Council representative at large; Mr. George Nashar, former <br />Councilman Ward 3; Mr. Ron Tallon, former Councilman at large and Councilman <br />Ward l; Janet Saringer, former Council President; Dean McKay, former Ward 4 <br />Councilman and his wife Margaret; John Dailey, former Councilman Ward 2; Duane <br />Limpert, former Councilman Ward l; and Thomas O'Grady, former Council President <br />and former Councilmember at large. Mrs. Seman thanked her family and former Council <br />people for attending the meeting. <br />Councilman Orlowski presented Mrs. Seman with a certificate of special recognition that <br />was presented to her by Mike Patterson of Congressman Kucinich's office at the Council <br />caucus. Councilman Orlowski read the certificate and presented it to Mrs. Seman. <br />3 <br />
