Council Minutes of 8/18/2009 <br /> <br />• Resolution 2009-$8, a resolution authorizing the Mayor to accept a donation of <br />materials from Moen Incorporated for use in the North Olmsted Senior Center & <br />campus ADA improvement project. Planning Director Wenger presented <br />information in that regard. The committee vote 3-0 to recommend approval with <br />n request for suspension. <br />Councilman Brossard, chairperson of the Intra-Governmental Relations Committee: l) <br />The Infra-Governmental Relations Committee met on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 6:45 <br />p.m. to discuss Resolution No. 2009-85. Committee members Brossard, Gareau, and <br />Orlowski were present, as well as additional members of Council and directors. This <br />resolution was intxoduced by Mayor O'Grady and is a resolution in support of the Federal <br />Administration's health care reform principles, Compelling statements both for and <br />against this resolution were made by several people attending the meeting. A motion to <br />approve was made by Council Member Brossard and seconded by Councilman Gareau. <br />The motion to recommend approval failed by a vote of 2-l . <br />LETTERS AND COMMUNICATIONS <br />The Clerk read the following letter: "The fire fighters and paramedics from the cities of <br />Lakewood, Rocky River, Fairview Park, North Olmsted, Westlake, Bay Village and <br />North Kidgeville wish to congratulate the Westshore Council of Governments on <br />securing a grant to fund a study for Fire Department Staffing and Emergency Medical <br />Services in our communities. As professional emergency responders, we have devoted <br />our lives to the health and safety of our citizens. The efforts of our elected officials to <br />investigate ways to improve safety and service levels in our communities while creating <br />possible efficiencies through this joint study should be applauded. We look forward to the <br />opportunity to work with our Mayors in a cooperative effort on this Westshore Fire <br />Department Study to determine if a regional 'fire department would improve safety <br />services." Thanks to his Councilman and the members of <br />the Council for accepting an amendment of the minutes of the last meeting indicated he <br />agreed with Carrie Copfer on health care. By no stretch of the imagination does he agree <br />with Carrie Copfer on health care. He agrees on irrelevant resolutions, which she felt <br />possibly that was. He agreed with her that sometimes irrelevant resolutions don't belong <br />before City Council. Secondly, regarding Resolution 2009-92, it should be the auto mile <br />because that's what Bedford calls theirs. He hasn't been out there in a few years, but it <br />used to look horrible with all the banners across Broadway. He would ask Council to <br />very carefully look at this concept. He shops at the Save a Lot store, which has very <br />good prices, so he asked the manager why he didn't put up a flip sign to advertise. The <br />9 <br />
